Aussie here -- easier to peel once cooked and peel from underneath. Twist head off . turn upside down, rip legs off and take shell at same time, then take out vein by grabbing at head and pulling down. Great video -- btw we call them prawns not shrimp.

What you kids want to do when you've only got a handfull of prawns, is prawn risotto; Boil them, shell them, boil the shells a bit more, and strain. Then sautee the prawns with diced onion, garlic and sliced red peppers and a glass of white wine. Add a mug of rice, strir in, add three mugs of prawn 'prawn water', bring to boil, taste for salt (and maybe somepaprika) and lower until cooked but gooey. Sprinkle fresh coriander on top and serve (with some chilled Chianti or Vinho Verde). Thats how you use all the 'prawny goodness' instead of just letting in evaporate on the griddle.

You guys I'm telling you.. try a can of wet catfood, in the trap, pop a couple holes in the can of catfood and send it down.. trust me, we used to do an over night soak.. you will have 200 or more..

What a beautiful place! When did you shoot this? For the prawn/shrimp just throw them directly on the plancha for a few minutes. Much easier that way and the shell protects the meat from sticking on the grill.

There sure is something incredible about waterfalls. A favorite picnic for Sri Lankans, especially in the highlands of the middle of that tropical island, is picnics to the nearby waterfall. I did go to many personally, found some incredible ones too. What a lovely place, that you are sailing in and catching all that lovely seafood too on your own. I have never seen anyone peel shrimp/ prawns, before cooking them. For sure, it would be easier to cook first and then peel, and that is the way we do it here in Denmark and also, how my ex-wife's family would do it in Sri Lanka. Here two brothers and father also, when he was home for open water fishing trips, earned their living on fishing shrimp in the nearby lagoon. God Bless!
