Very cool video, love the drone shots, We sailed our new Corsair 888 from Key Largo to Key West a few days ago we made the 94 mile trip in 5.8 hours and averaged 16.2 kts. Never fired the engine up until we were ready to go into the marina in Key West. This boat sure did draw a lot of attention in Key West. Because we keep it in the water at our condo in Key Largo we don't have to deal with putting up the mast or putting the outriggers down. I think the only changes we are making is a bigger fuel cell for the engine, one 200 watt solar panel, a wind turbine, and upgrading the electronics, and a bigger 12 volt refrigerator all in preparation to sail to the Bahamas in Feb.

How hard would it be to reef single handed/ What are the steps? You mentioned you had some difficult reffing on your first solo sail, what did that involve? Was it just learning to do it(lack familiarity or something specific that is tricky)? 3. Have you tried to "heave to"? If yes, what happened? 4. How did workout running the portable generator in the locker in the cockpit? How loud was the generator in the rear cabin, front cabin?

While u r checking hubs for heat check tires, on truck as well as trailer, if there is a slow leak the tire will be much hotter than all the others. Multi axle trailers tend to have the front set of tires throw screws or nails from road surface into the second set of tires because they are so close together, almost like an injector at that rpm and when the angle is right it will puncture tire, not enough to give instant flat, the tire may still look similiar to the others, but w low pressure, that much weight on it at highway speeds for long trips it can blowout, knowing u can catch it early makes for less stress.

I wanted to warn you of a potential problem that you will have with your Bed and mattress in your truck camper. I remember on your video for the remodeling the camper is you had mold under the Mattress. this will be a problem because of the your truck camper's design. what is happening is the bed is warm when your sleeping but the outside is cold which creates condensation. propane heaters also help create this problem in the rest of the camper. electric heaters help with that. some truck campers have a storage space under the bed which helps with this problem. another thing you can do is simply make sure there is air space under the mattress by building an air space with wooden, you can also buy a spring system like the froli spring system which was designed specifically for this problem. good luck with your adventures!!!

What Boom Furler are you using on the Corsair?
@trisailor33184 жыл бұрын
The boom furler is not an item. It is the way the boom and mast are built. A long shaft on the gooseneck goes straight through the mast and sticks out the front of the mast. A crank handle is attached and the whole boom spins to roll up the main. Super simple. Thank you Ian Farrier.
@rayred744 жыл бұрын
@@trisailor3318 is it something that can be retrofitted to my boat? or would I need a new mast too?
@trisailor33184 жыл бұрын
@@rayred74 : I suppose many boats could be converted to a rolling boom. The most critical modification is the one inch hole through the mast. You would need some way of knowing that your mast would remain strong enough after that hole. Second, you would need a gooseneck fitting with a one inch (or so) diameter rod long enough to go through the mast, back to front, with a couple inches sticking out the front to attach a handle to. Next, you need to attach a topping lift attachment fitting on the aft end of the boom. So the aft end of the boom needs an end plate. You drill a hole in the center of the end plate which becomes the rotation axis for rolling the boom. Your mainsail has to made so that the battens are parallel to the boom so they don't interfere with rolling up the sail. Finally, to prepare for rolling you need to make sure nothing is attached along the length of the boom. Like vang and lazy jacks.

Mmmm. Got impatient just watching the rig and de-rig so even though it’s a great boat think I would get fed up with that chore pretty fast.
