How do you know where to place the stabilizer? Don't you think a placement stitch would be helpful?

Are you getting in a muddle between stabiliser and something else?????

If you mean batting (because the stabilizer needs to be hooped… to be… stable) and you use a hoop size the same or larger but as close as possible to the design size then you just place the batting centred in the hoop…. Or… just run the first colour (batting tackdown) twice and use for placement as well as tackdown. Easy.
