Melbourne's freeways look so futuristic! I love the colorful decorations found along the way.
@FreewayBrent8 жыл бұрын
Indeed! It's definitely a nod to Melbourne's international reputation for its arts scene. There's also some neat futuristic architecture along the Western Ring Road (which I'll feature in a later video) and the new EastLink toll freeway.

Is it really futuristic? I leave here in Melbourne and find every other freeway outside Melbourne looks way better!
@FreewayBrent8 жыл бұрын
I think he was implying that by Melbourne, he's referring to the entire region, and not just within the city. Compared to US freeways, there is definitely *a lot* of nice artistic features to Melbourne's freeway network. It's awesome stuff!

Hey there Johan. Saw your comment a few days ago; have worked three consecutive 15 hour days, due to unusual circumstances within my company (all good, just things I had to help fix), but now that I finally have down time, wanted to respond and say thank you very much! I'm hoping to have another video out in the next 10 days, before I fly out to Australia for more freeway filming! Next video will feature a melodic, pop song.
@reoswedewagon16518 жыл бұрын
FreewayBrent Sounds great! I have to ask though, how do you find the time to make these videos, where you just apparently travel the world and film the roads you do so on? Or how do you afford it? What is your secret? I must know!
@FreewayBrent8 жыл бұрын
lol. You're not the first to ask. Without elaborating too much... 1.) I have an employer that truly respects and accommodates my desire to travel on a fairly regular basis. I work my butt off as a project manager, and in return for remaining 100% on-call while I'm away (via both phone and E-Mail), my employer lets me take a yearly 2-3 week vacation, and a couple of 1+ week vacations per year, plus some Friday's/Monday's off when desired. In other words, even when I'm on vacation, I usually still work anywhere from 30 minutes-6 hours a day (but generally just 30 mins to 3 hours a day) to keep projects moving. 2.) Because of my job requirements and my personal life results in me being so mobile, I now rent a furnished commuter room in a house with someone I really trust, on a reasonable day-to-day rate (about 15-20 days per month on average). This saves me *a lot* of money. I analyzed my financial situation and the amount of days I wasn't home, and decided renting an apartment or even a room full-time was a complete waste of money. I don't have kids...just a g/f who lives in Sydney and I get to see once every 2-3 months. Also, when I'm on vacation, I don't spend *any* money on rent, and in return, get to spend it on lodging...or, if my travels take me to places where I have friends in the immediate area, I'll stay with them to save on lodging. 3.) I don't live lavishly (meaning I don't spend lots of money on material items)...most of what I spend my money on is related to good coffee, food, travel and treating out my friends/family on occasion. I do have a 2015 Kia that I'm making payments on, but it's not a higher-end model...it's reliable and gets me around.

Sounds like a complicated deal. I'm currently in the final year of school, and about to turn 18 which means I'll be able to get my driver's license. Once I turn 21 I'll be able to get a license for trucks and get a job driving trucks and trailers, and then who knows? I might start making videos such as yours, Haljackey's, Freewayjim's and all the others myself! Keep on being an inspiration! :D

AFL is sure as hell not a dead game. It has been part of our culture for 100 plus years and it is one of the only places that I can see the majority of my family in the one spot. It is one of the most important things in my life and provides me with something to do.

Just questioning, how much did CityLink cost? I was comparing it to a couple other tollways (Highway 407 in Toronto, PA Turnpike, NY Thruway) and seeing which one was better feasible for through traffic and intercity traffic, while not having to pay an arm and a leg.
@stegglesmcnuggets92958 жыл бұрын
Carlos Vera return trip via all of citylink is about $14.00. it sucks. I avoid traveling on half of it.

Hey there. I live near San Francisco, but I'm actually in a long-distance relationship, with my girlfriend living in Sydney. Started dating back in August, when she came to visit San Francisco a year ago. I finally went to visit for 3 weeks in January, so I ended up grabbing a bunch of footage from Sydney, Melbourne and vicinity. We plan on driving up to Brisbane next January, so I'll be grabbing more footage around there and the Gold Coast area, and finally Perth, later in 2017.
