Just want to point out that unlike Grappling and Pushing attack, Feinting doesn't specify a weapon attack or even a weapon just an attack. You can Feint your guiding bolt. The advantage from Feinting will negate the disadvantage from doing a ranged attack in melee range and you'll get the bonus damage on it.

Knife Edge Death Match sounds like an actual stipulation that has to be explained, but in the spanish dub it's called "Duelo a Muerto con Cuchillos", wich translates to duel to the death with knives. When asked, Kuwabara responds (translated): I think they are gonna duel to the death, with knives.

My girlfriend and I are still going through Yu Yu Hakusho together, but this was a delight to watch. A small part of me was surprised by going for Shadow Blade over Spiritual Weapon, but then I looked over the spells again and decided you were 100% right to pick Shadow Blade for Kuwabara as a character. I thought SW's lack of concentration was a nice bonus to it, but it didn't fit as well from a character perspective. so excellent choices there. I like that you didn't make Yusuke a monk like I expected too. I really like when your video's do something tjhat blindside me like that.

Pact of the Chain actually makes you an amazing scout, especially if you get the invocation that removes the range limit and lets you speak through it. Pick a tiny and unobtrusive creature for your familiar (or one of the options that can shapeshift / turn inivisible), and you can pretty much just map out the entire dungeon for free, without agroing any encounters. It's like an Arcane Eye that you can get way earlier *and* doesn't cost any spell slots *and* lasts indefinitely.

I'd go Druid/Monk for Kurama. Kensei with whip as your weapon. Thorn whip pulls them close, but whip in general with your increased martial arts die would be powerful and druid for spells/versatility.

For Hiei, I’m thinking a lot of Bladesong Wizard so you can get some powerful spells like shadow dragon, which could be a good substitute for Black Dragon Fire

I've made a Kurama build over a year ago with this in mind! Unlike everyone else, I think Druid is wrong. Kurama never Wildshapes or anything of the sort. I don't recall him ever reverting to his fox spirit form after joining with Suichi, only "shifting" to Yoku Kurama. So Shifter Ranger 9(monster slayer) with Rogue 11(Inquisitive). Take druidic warrior for thorn whip and a regular whip. I'll write the full build with reasoning if people care.

I will say as this a good time to bring it up with Yuske, True Strike is a very bad cantrip, but keep in mind that it does not specify you need to target a creature. People always call it out for being bad in combat scnarios but Tue Strike is actually pretty handy in roleplay by using it on various object as form of focusing on it for your attack, shoot a moving car, punch down a wall or door, break a box etc. If you have no other good options you want its not as bad of a pickup for cheap advantage when you really want cool moments.

So you can either Take a turn to use True Strike and then Roll 2d20 for one set of damage on your next turn or take both turns to attack and roll 2d20 on two sets of damage. There is almost no situation where spending an entire turn to roll the same number of d20s you would if you just attacked twice is better than just attacking twice. You are just wasting a turn to do half damage assuming you don't lose Concentration, the target does get killed by someone else, or are forced to target something else (Or pretty much anything happens beyond you getting to just stand there and stare at the baddie). The outcomes are both dice are too low and you just wasted time, once dice hits and the other doesn't which means you do the same damage if you instead just attacked twice, or both are high enough which means you wasted one set of damage entirely. Seriously, True Strike is True Garbage. Take Mending, or Prestidigitation, or literally anything else.

@@demomanchaos I literally said to not use it in combat. You didn't need to type an essay to tell me what anyone who's played 5e for more than a month already knows. My point about true strike is that you don't use it to attack a creature in initiative. Don't ever use it in initiative and waste a turn, but if anyone has it it has uses OUTSIDE of initiative with roleplay. Like in an archery competition, use it to gain advantage on hitting a target, trying to hit something in a chase sequence, or just want a better chance at chopping a tree down, these are the things True Strike is good for that's not combat, because WOW there is more to D&D than just combat. Is it a good spell? Hell no, but all I wanted to do was offer an idea to people that might actually find it useful in some instances. Free advantage on hitting random things that you normally wouldn't have otherwise where initiative and turns don't matter.

@@GoldDragon527 Outside of initiative you are also wasting 6 seconds in game to get 2d20 when you could instead just attack twice in that same time frame (Trying to hit the driver on a cart? Send two arrows at him, and most classes can do that twice in one round so with multi attack you are trading one Advantage for a pair or more of attacks which makes the problem even worse). I would say it might be useful for Rogues to get Sneak Attack but with so very many other options to get Advantage True Strike is still True Garbage. While you might be able to artificially generate a very specific scenario where it might have be good you really have to stretch hard to find the very few instances where it is in any way useful while almost every other cantrip has a large pool on instances where it will be very useful.

@@demomanchaos Guiding Bolt or Inflict Wounds when you only have two to five long rest spell slots at early levels, or only dipping spellcasting classes early on like here. Then swap it out when you don't have to be as conservative later on. Better use of your action turn one than healing or most offensive cantrips available to many subclasses of Cleric that aren't trying to mix it up with weapons. With Guiding Bolt, the advantage even pays off with more advantage, so you're ideally only using True Strike turn one if you're the party member handling long range against targets outside the melee teammates' reach. But, yeah, the scenario is getting more and more specific to make it pay off. True Strike is not a good spell/cantrip in general, mostly for if you know exactly what to expect from your party in a given campaign.

I love this so much. Yusuke was easily my most anticipated build, probably since I started watching the channel. As much as I loved the Z fighter builds, I also kind of knew they’d get done eventually because DBZ is so big, but Yusuke is from an anime that’s pretty old at this point, so there was always that question of whether it would happen. But being able to combine energy blasts with that up-close punching is really great, and I love how he’s got Guiding Bolt and Eldritch Blast together. I’m currently running a Paladin that took Magic Initiate in Warlock so that I’d always be able to blast someone at range (my first ever Guiding Bolt with this character, my first ever spell attack, rolled a crit and I knew that I was hooked and wanted to have the ability to blast at will), so seeing that combo on a character you’ve built is really awesome! I feel so vindicated, even if my Paladin is much more close-combat and isn’t multiclassing at all. This is absolutely my favorite video thus far, except possibly for your Oath of Brilliance homebrew. Dang, I *really* want to try that some day.

I remember there being a comment when this came out that "Yusuke and Kuwabara definitely aren't boyfriends". Rewatching the series reminded me there's an *entire twenty minute episode* where it's just Kuwabara talking about how Yusuke means the world to him and he won't know what to do if Yusuke dies. (Spoilers for an old anime, I guess but...) Everyone grieves differently but Kuwabara sheds more tears and is more emotional about Yusuke's death than Keiko... Dude is seriously distraught. The boys might not be in a physical relationship, but that uh, "bromance" clearly runs real deep.

These are some great builds! I was a little taken aback when Sorcerer was the first caster class, but it makes sense with the character. He only had a few shots per day in the first arc. So Warlock/Eldritch blast later is good.

Why not just go Way of the Four Elements Monk and use Fist of Unbroken Air, then? It literally shoots a projectile that can hit from 30 feet away doing 3d10 force damage and it can push the enemy 20 feet or knock them prone, making it feel stronger while also hitting way harder, as well. Not only can you follow it up with more attacks, because Monk, and get over to targets with anime speed, because Monk, it also just hits way harder than Guiding Bolt's 4d6 Damage. And unlike Guiding Bolt, you can increase the power by 1d10 by spending more Ki points, meaning at max level you can either fire 10 shots a day OR put all your energy into one really big shot by burning more Ki points at a time. Meaning you can fire bursts strong enough to really wow your allies at how much you've improved over time for that "Someone who can do that might just be able to beat Togoro" moment. The only real downside is less HP to work with, and you can easily make up for that with a few levels in Fighter or by using Eternal Mountain Defense to cast Stoneskin on yourself to give some of that anime extra-toughness. You'll even hit harder with your unarmed attacks, too, because Monk.

MAJOR HYPE I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YU YU HAKUSHO I made Yusuke for a friend of mine and turned him into a Sun Soul Monk for the Radiant Sun Bolt (Spirit Gun). Also I turned Kuwabara into a Paladin initially because I wanted him to have the Divine Smite power (especially when used in combination with a sword weapon for the Spirit Sword) but I've never gone beyond multiclassing for him. Typically when I make characters I stick to just one class for them and go with what is given. But thank you for making this list! I'm such a big Yu Yu nerd and I am happy as can be to see the bros put into DnD!

I put the finishing touches on my build based on Yusuke a few weeks back in prep for a long campaign, just to have you upload this guide afterwards lmaooo I did go about it a little differently tho, i avoided reborn and went straight human because the flavour of the benefits seemed odd, and i went pact of the genie so i could have a little koenma type dude pop in and harass me every now and again. I also went samurai because the 3rd level ability is basically plot armour. Apart from that, I had the same idea, so cheers for the validation!

Is Tasha's Caldron legal at your table, and are you using Feats? If so, is the Metamagic Adept banned, or just home brewed to Sorcerer only? I can understand choosing to make metamagic exclusive to Sorcerer so that they keep that element of uniqueness, which is a vary valid place for a DM to be coming from. But, if it's possibly just a matter of ignorance, don't be afraid to have a civilized conversation about it with your DM to see if they're more open to the idea than you'd expect when it's put in better context.

@@Shalakor I honestly forgot his exact reasoning, but if I recall it had something to do with the what he interpreted the spellcasting section of multiclassing in the PHB. He thinks the metamagic only work on spells you get from sorcerer, even if you have spells from another class. How he came to that conclusion I don't remember. Doesn't really matter too much to me since I'm not playing a sorcerer anyway.

Those amazing builds, man, Kuwabara was really fine but Yusuke was perfect, when you started taking levels in Warlock and Form of Dread appeared I thought to myself ''yes, it's all coming together'' you didn't let anything out, even Puu showed up, that build is amazing. If you ever make a Kurama/Hiei video you will be a life-saver, for a long time I was thinking about how to make a Hiei build but it never came out perfectly and with these two the ''really good friends'''joke makes much more sense, lol.

Let's see, hiei I feel very probably has Monk in there, maybe kensei? He's really good with a sword, doesn't wear armor, and redic fast. Maybe mix with Bladesinger wizard? Or you could do the bladesinger wizard/eldritch knight combo and rely on stuff like Haste for speed. Kurama is probably some sort of Druid

I love the idea of finger-guns, I'm using it in a one-shot basically following the idea in the Cyclops video, though getting the build to it's greatest potential is a bit hard at level 5 since all of the needed abilities in Warlock, Fighter, and Sorcerer come on at level 2 (or 3 in the sorcerer one if you want more than the ability to just swap sorcerer points for spell slots and vice versa)

Me the guy who mixed sorcerer with hexblade and fighter. So, yeah I deal 12d10+12d6+132 damage in a single round thanks to hex, hexblades curse, quickened spell meta magic, and action surge. If your wondering that is an average of 240 damage or a DPR of 149.4. Afterwards, your damage decreases to 8d10+8d6+88 damage with an average of 160 damage, and a DPR of 99.6 which is very good. Shame you can only do this combo once per short rest as you need a short rest to regain your hexblades curse. Also, one important thing to mention is that you can pull this combo off with only one turn of setup if you take a readied action to cast the hex spell.

I really wish there was a fiend sorcerer coz thatd be perfect. But since we don't have that I really feel something like wild magic or draconic bloodline fits better. The AC boost is nice with draconic and it fits the tatoo and stuff. Wild magic fits the wild nature of the demon magic that yusuke has.
