I'm going to be getting into welding, school starting in a month. Nervous because ive never done welding before, this was helpful showing me what to expect. I hope my nerves don't get the better of me.

@@TalmboutJonAfrica I start class at Tulsa in ten days...I'll try to remember to let you all know how the process works and how the school is. I've never welded but thought it'd be a good place to use up some of my GI Bill.

Good starting kit of accessories. I would suggest seriously considering upgrading the helmet to a quality autodark if you can. It makes seeing the puddle a lot better and watching the puddle makes a better welder. When I first learned how to weld with my everlast stick welder I had a really cheap helmet and couldn't even see the puddle.

noah brown I wouldn't trade my sugar scoop for the moon, honestly. I can see great out of my hood. It depends on what shaded lenses you need. I run either glass shaded lenses or an autodarkening cartridge and I absolutely love them both. Just keep your clear lenses new and no problems. Also those hoods are incredibly light. Especially if you cut them down. But you are completely correct! If you can't see out of your hood what good is it doing for you? It's all personal preference. Thanks!

To anyone who watches now, they've switched the pipe hood up to an Autodarkener, the face shield has been pulled out.

if I'm looking at getting into the oil industry as a welder do you recommend Tulsa?
@codyreynolds46018 жыл бұрын
Tulsa Welding School has a lot of pipe welding, which is huge in the oilfield industry. However, the oilfield is not in good shape due to low oil prices.
@codyreynolds46018 жыл бұрын
You may already know that. You may also have a job lined up. If that's the case, then yes Tulsa would be very good for oilfield welding.

Are you currently in the welding field? Does Tulsa help with post grad careers as much as they claim they do?

It's pretty good for all around learning the trade of welding. Metal fabrication and pipe fitting take years to master.
