that isnt how america/trump works, there will be hard negotiations first and then sticking to commitments. though i get your point india should be careful with negotiations everything is up for take. from regime changes to sanction all can happen during negotiations to arm twist. India should be ready with answers and not take things for granted

A right wing Hindu nationalist perspective that is I expect correct in the new appointees' attitudes toward India. But, a big but....the foreign policy establishment has not been so influential since Kissinger centralized policy in his hands. And the intel agencies will also be weaker under Trump. It's the White House populated with far right wing ideological allies and loyalists with little foreign policy experience who will call the shots. They are not so positive on race, immigration, trade or industry and are hostile to BRICS as Trump is himself. The US will be much more assertive of its own interests in dealings with India. Trump hates trade deficits. Presumably defense cooperation will continue to expand. But who knows? Trump is mo spring chicken.
