Hello rookie.. you know I’ve beat myself up over cracks in my tumbles..until I figured out it was my life that was cracked...I’ve had an extremely hard year.. caring for my children’s dieing father.. you can’t always have perfection/ smooth edges when the balance is off.. or dirt gets in the way.. aka cancer/ grit..ok now who getting deep lol..those were beautiful rocks.. as far as my cracks.. he went with the angels this week.. and I’m left with the understanding of patience and the long tumble...nice video... peace

Oh Yvonne you totally got the analogy. That’s a hard bunch of rocks to tumble I’m sure. Ugh, just honestly can’t imagine. I hope your children and yourself are doing okay, as okay as to be expected. My mum and dad have been divorced since I was 6, (I’m kinda thinking I was lucky they had if that makes sense), but I remember when my dad was only months away from passing, my mum met up with him and not to say everything was forgotten, but there was a sense that everything was okay, forgiven kinda thing. I cried to be honest. To see my mother give my father the “all’s well with us” was heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. Both for good reason. You’re a good woman Yvonne, honestly, I’m so sorry for your loss, but I hope there is peace there regardless of the divide. I don’t know the circumstances but I reckon what you did was selfless, and pure.

Thank you for the perspective RR..not only the perspective on your beautiful tumbling, but also for what seems to be a common theme amongst a lot of rock hounders. Quest for Details, Katydid, etc, that life is patience and time, and if you don’t take the time through the noise, to enjoy the little things, you’re going to walk right past them, and before you know it, because life is so fast, it will be too late. To everyone: PLEASE, with what the world is going through now, and in the future, SLOW DOWN, use some PATIENCE, and give YOUR life some TIME. I think we all agree it will be worth it, and make all the difference. Sorry for the philosophical moment, but great videos not only are viewing pleasure but make you think on a big picture scale. Thanks RR. 🙏💙

Don't ever stop your philosophizing! You are just as beautiful inside, as the rocks you cut open! Keep being you! Oh my gosh Kerin, this message touched me massively. I’m 1 year off of 40, but I think there’s some hard things I’ve been through that have taught me a little bit about life that, without them, unfortunately, I wouldn’t have learnt some things I have, and oh man there’s so much i need to learn still. Haha! But he’ll come through this I promise. Sometimes all you can do is be there, it’s hard but “time and patience” hey, it’s easier said than done, but you sound like such a good loving mum, he’s a lucky man. I attribute a lot of who I am to my mum, greatest person I’ve ever known I swear! Thank you for sharing and for the heartfelt comment Kerin.

This video pulled a heart string for me my fiancé and I used to go hounding and give each other special rocks that we found for Christmas and other holidays and unexpectedly he passed away four months ago and I drove from Oregon to Idaho to go leave his flowers in the rabbit Springs geode mine where I found thunder eggs and you really don’t know what time as in store for you until it’s done and over with and you’re right we do not have a hand in it at all. And then when I came to leave this comment I noticed that your video is 11 minutes and 11 seconds long 1111 angel numbers I now have a new love for hounding and I look at it in a completely different way who’s to know who’s feet touched those rocks or who’s blood was shed on those rocks back in history that we have collected it’s amazing to think about. Hound in peace babe 😍 you #forever26

NIKKI! My heart absolutely goes out to you more than you know. I don’t understand your exact feelings and emotions right now but I do know a loss similar. So this message really hit home to me. 11 years ago my fiancé passed away after a 2 year battle with bowel cancer at the age of 28. It wasn’t sudden, but it also wasn’t kind. It’s a loss that not many will understand. But my heart thoughts and prayers go out to you. There is a future, it just takes getting there, to realise it. Grief isn’t a fixed form either. Be gentle on yourself and know he’s there. I don’t have much more I can say that would even come close to helping, I know that. I’m just very sorry for your loss. So so sorry. I’m so glad you found this video when you did. And those Ange numbers (11:11) it wasn’t a mistake 😉✨ I saw it so so much just after my fiancé had passed. Take care Nikki. Don’t hesitate to say g’day every now n then.

I am sure you will Nikki... but from what I’ve been through, I can only say that for now, it’s just about feeling what you do, and being okay with it. It’s hard though. So be kind to yourself, and grieve how those that have gone too early, deserve to be grieved. The pain is only ever matched by the joy we know, from having been a part of their life, and them a massive shaping part of ours. They are here still. While they need to be. Sounds chliche I know. But it’s true. And they will always be, when we need them to.

@@Rookie_Rockounding not cliche at all one of the things we love doing the most together is hounding and he's only been gone for months but I have found a handful or more of rocks that are shaped like hearts and I'm not talkin if you tilt your head a certain way they're shaped like hearts they are hearts and then my dog had puppies and one of them was born with the heart on its side in brown fur on a white dog. Right before he passed as I was leaving the hospital room I told my mom that I probably needed to get a dog to keep me company too much later that puppy was born. I know he's with me he's my twin flame he will always be with me. I realize yesterday after we spoke everything does happen for a reason and we were meant to speak do you want another a lot of your episodes are about chalcedony and geodes and thunder eggs when I went looking for the Thunder eggs and geodes I couldn't find any till I laid his flowers down and said a few words and went to leave next thing I know I'm digging 7 of them out of the same hole. I was very excited to cut mine open if I quit and got a saw that didn't know how to use it so I looked it up on KZbin and there's a video of you explaining how to use the saw and how to clean them. Thank you again for everything you've done and you don't know impact it just your words have had for me thank you I'm trying my hardest to grieve it the way I'm supposed to the world doesn't stop and give you a moment to grieve all the stresses of daily living for me sometimes I think too much but then I remembered that being on this Earth for my children is my family are more beneficial then if I were to give up to be with him we'll be together again someday right now it's not my time thank you again I know that you're busy with your family and hounding in your videos so please you don't have to respond back I just want you to know how much you've helped me

Super smooth and beautiful as far as markings, but there was a slight fog covering the stones and it just hurt. Oh! Between each stage I do a fairly good rinse, then burnish with a few shavings of ivory soap for 15 minutes. IT helps get the final bits off the barrel and the stones. Makes that last 5% of crud WAY easier to remove before the next stage. And I burnish like that for a few hours after final polish.

I think you were able to express in this video the feelings that many of us are having during this surreal time. I love how you used the time table of the tumbling rocks to illustrate the passage of time and the change that occurred. The change in the rocks, the change in the country, the change in the world; sometimes they show time so slowly and at others so quickly. We are adaptive beings and we can learn to be in a new way and continue to find the joy. Thank you for this heartfelt expression of your feelings and experiences. Oh my friends, what an awesome Friday morning to wake up to.😁 The weather outside couldn't be more perfect, have buckets of freshly dug beautiful pet wood to clean up and a bunch of new videos dropped including this one from our good friend from down under RR! Thank you sir for providing us some fresh content from below the equator~ Patience is definitely something we can all use, time is something which we are all unfortunately very limited and I for one am grateful for these little moments of beauty you are providing us where we can all bath in our shared addiction for beautiful chunks of mother earth! 👍 Looking back, reflecting on our current times and having points of reference for our memories can be both sad and wonderful at the same time.🤷‍♂️ These videos help remind us all of things past while still excited for things to come in the future... and while I am sorry for the losses we all face, am also very thankful for the all the interesting and potentially beautiful new things that continue happening all around us too! Thanks for making the effort to take, edit and make interesting content that allows us a small glimpse into you and your part of the world, much appreciated. 🎁 Tumbling was my first true experience with "exposing" the hearts of these magical little specimen and opened my eyes and mind to further possibilities available if we just take the time to look for the beauty, cutting was then just the next logical step to getting closer to the heart of the stone! PS. Loved the cacophony of birds chattering in the background, reminded me of my time out in the central/south america jungles. Hope you and yours are doing well, staying healthy and sane sir, take care have a great weekend say hey to Benny and Pauly and keep rockin' my friend!

Oh, Jesse. So here I am, recovering from balling my eyes out at the TRUTH you just laid down in a rock tumbling video. I just came in from walking alone in the woods at sunset, crying quite a bit at everything, and wiping my tears so I could get a better look at the rock I just picked up. And then I came in, got dinner, and sat down to watch this gem, having no idea what you put together. You blew me away with this, brother. I am incredibly sorry about your best mate. There is nothing more excruciating than to lose your best mate. And the fires, and the virus, and all the other things...there’s no way to describe 2020 anymore without sounding cliche, but yeah, I totally feel you on all this, brother. But we do have a choice. We can fall to the ground in pieces and give up (and sometimes this is necessary) or we can do what you did and focus on the positive, keep ourselves in the light, find gratitude in every moment, and see the beauty in that imperfect stone. Your wisdom hit me at the perfect time. 🙏🏼 Thank you for making and sharing this special video. ♥️

Oh Tina! I read this and just felt so so sooooo glad I went with the idea for the video. I was genuinely worried it would be cliche and sappy but I am so glad it was of some use. It really makes me happy. I hope you’re doing well my friend, and like you said, there’s no way to describe 2020, but there’s ways we can benefit from it I guess, through how we hold it, examine it in our hands, acknowledge it’s hardship and feel what hurt we must, before taking any and every lesson we can from it. Even if it’s just that we remember how treasured everything was when we had it easier, and when easier times come, we hold them all that much more closer to our chest, for the privilege they are. Easier said than done, but hey, we’re only human right 😂 I hope you are well, and as happy as possibly can be Tina! Thank you again for the heartfelt message. 😊✨

Agate Dad Ah man the goose egg got me hard when I was editing this. And man, tumbling is insanely rewarding, if you tumble some or ANY of the bangers you find, you’re gonna be amazed at how rad they turn out and you don’t have to spend very much time on them, other than looking at them after. That’s where I get stuck haha! But pay attention to Marlaina, and Rob, they know their tumblin dude! I reckon that’s definitely the toy you’d get the most fun outta next 😉

I've been thinking that you should tumble some of those beautiful agates for some time Taylor. The nice thing about it is that it takes about 5-10 minutes to get each batch set up and tumbling. I really like that first rock you picked up. It just jumped right out at me. Thanks for sharing your hard times. It makes the burden easier I know. I tend to keep those to myself but am learning to vent so I can continue to enjoy the fun stuff. It was hard when my mom and dad died, but when my husband died unexpectedly last October I just about forgot to keep my eyes and heart open. When I find a beautiful stone that i adore I'll keep it safe stash it hide it away. But if that rock crosses my mind while thinking of someone, immediately I give it to them. I feel it's the stone saying "hey i wanna go there". So tumbling is the most natural way for the stone to become the way it was meant to be. In my opinion anyhow. Those stones are beautiful and so is the story! Much love rookie! (Pst congratulations on 20k!)

Heyyyyyyyy brother! I’m late this week getting to responses but thank you mate! I feel the same way about the stones. They pick us out too. And sometimes when someone is visiting our home, they pick up one of the rocks and are just quietly looking at it, it’s like it picked them. So I’m like, “oh man, you like that? You can have it!” It’s like we’re just custodians of them until they continue on their journey. I hope you’re keeping well mate! OHHHH! And I completely failed at the comet pic!
