Excellent video, you are a great instructor! Why are you concerned about correcting frequencies that are greater than 20db below your target level?
@RAW-CAt5 ай бұрын
Just because why not🤷 You can decide for yourself how far you want to go with this. I am not limited by EQ bands, so I go all the way.

Thank you for making this video and including PIP video of yourself during the process, helped a lot! Your tune looks rock solid. All the best for the competition :)

I'm finally watching these videos and paying better attention now that I'm finally going for an SQ tune. I'm using a MiniDSP but the steps are the same.
@RAW-CAt5 күн бұрын
You choose the method and stick to the steps. Workflow is exactly the same no matter the DSP. The difference is the GUI. Good luck😉

Just messing around with the EQ files from REW. I could be wrong but what I found was when importing the EQ file to the helix, with tone control turned OFF (just to see what is actually happening because tone control blacks out the data on the second band) the helix will take whatever your EQ file has and line it up left to right starting at the first band no matter what. So instead of putting NONE in place of PK on filter 2, I copied and pasted filter 2 like you did to the next available filter (in your case it was filter 15 for left tweet) but KEPT filter 2 in place and changed the DB to 0. This way you do not lose the third filter in your eq file to the Tone Control Black Hole in band #2, basically just adds a dummy filter at 0 db. If you notice when you loaded your modified eq file into the helix, the EQ filter #3 (1K1) disappeared into the black hole. You can also do this with the filter #1, so you don't lose your low shelf filter. Not sure if you have already figured this out but if not, hope it helps.

This sounds important lol Why do you guys block out that 2nd band again I couldn’t make out what function replaces/requires it exactly ?

with all due respect because you are the one putting all the hard (very good) work, but how come you decided not to use the Virtual Processing advantages of such a powerfull DSP allows? Why you prefered the to do the EQ directly to the Main outputs? Thanks

Accurate in what way? Any measurement is just an approximation of how we hear. That is why final adjustments by ear are necessary.

At the start when you start target curves, what software are you using to make that? It looks similar to REW, but how do you see that? Also, how did you work out that at 30hz you need +8db? Because that's what I currently but for my home theater.
@RAW-CAt Жыл бұрын
The program I use for individual targets is called "Jazzi's tuning companion" and it's an excel sheet that you can find in DIYMA forum to download. The +8dB target was just a guess and it was a wrong one. You need more bass for Emma, something like +12-15dB.

This may be a dumb question, but you ran pink noise at the beginning with no crossovers except on your tweeters. Why does this not risk blowing your mids and mid bass from playing lower frequencies? I am in the process of learning advanced tuning and love your channel.
@RAW-CAt5 ай бұрын
At a low enough volume and especially pink noise speakers can play full range with no issues. You really can only damage speakers with test tones at high levels.

Hey mate, when you select the Frequency range in the EQ in REW how far above and below the xover frequency do you extend, I've been playing around all day and I keep getting -12db filters at 0.5-1 Q

Thanks, I just found another one of your videos that explains it. I'm running a AFM12.14 but the filters that are being generated are cutting way too much, I'm using generic EQ with Classic Q but I might have to try different settings because I'm getting lots of -12db filters
