Hey everyone, part 5 of the Honda CB500 tuned engine build series, partnering with BCR Performance and P3 Tuning.
In this video i’m back at BCR Performance to rebuild the engine. Ben takes us through the full rebuild process in depth. Enjoy! 😎
If you have any questions on the engine tuning process, or the bike build, drop us a comment 👍
What you see in the video is all part of a tuning kit that Ben offers at BCR Performance, consisting of the following:
- Gas flowed ported cylinder head
- Skimmed deck
- New seats cut
- Lightened fly wheel
- High lift cams
- New stem seals and fully shimmed
Drop Ben at BCR Performance (link below) to message for prices. Ben offers an exchange service on the cylinder head or use your own 😎

How to know you are old. First brief sight of the exterior of the engine, and my mind thought: "Oh cool, a GB500" Those were neat, this will be really interesting, and my gosh how nice and shiny this lovely old specimen looks!" The GB500's despite being singles, had twin header pipes, so that helped along the whole old guy thing until the: Wait. What? A twin? I am confused! moment Siiiigh, lol. 🤪😆

Guys, why don't you remove balance shaft ?
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 4 күн бұрын
@@7sj3Ax Hi, thanks for the comment. I asked Ben who built it, and he said we could have done that and it would improve performance, but would mean having to get the crank balanced and was a bit overkill for the build. We tried to make it as cost effective as we could. 👍

What sort of bhp will this achieve? Will it still be bomb proof and what's the price for an engine build?
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 2 ай бұрын
@@waynechadwick362 Hey. So I'm hoping to get around 60 something hp. Which doesn't sound massive, but it will make a big difference on these. I'm not exactly sure how much we'll get but I'll find out soon. For prices its best messaging Ben via Instagram (link in description), as there's loads he can do with them. So it's a bit of a case by case scenario. Yeah this should still be 💣proof as it's not been messed with that much. It's part of his bolt on kit that he does. So the engine isn't pushed to its limit. Which is exactly what I'm after really. I want a bit of a boost but still simple and easy to maintain. 👍

Some top tips from Ben here, just about 7 months too late for me. I got caught out with a pattern head gasket but so far I don't think it's caused an issue. I'm also wondering what are the chances I got all the valve springs in the right way.
