Tuned Port Intake Gasket Warning

Someone in the past used RTV on my intake runner tubes on my 1985 C4. It made it a real PITA to remove the upper plenum box. Tip... I used a plastic trim removal tool, which I bought at Harbor Freight, the one with the flat edge, to pry apart the the tubes from the plenum box. The plastic tool will not gouge the soft aluminum surfaces like a metal screwdriver or pry tool. Gently hammer in the pry tool at multiple locations and gently pry. Keep working the different locations until it separates, be patient and don't use excessive force. Also, it literally took me a entire afternoon to scrape off all the RTV with a razor blade. I bought my upper intake gasket kit from Fuel Injector Connection.com, very nice quality gaskets.

I’m planning to buy a set of runners but they say come with gasket sets. Still, good info, the manifold is going to need porting.

I had those runners at one time and ran the accel base. I did have a sealing problem using those gaskets. Mr gasket makes stock size gaskets also. I found it to be better to get those and trim the opening of the gasket to the runner size.

Get your gaskets from AS&M. They match the runners perfectly. The AS&M runners mate up to the Edelbrock Hi flo intake base perfectly also.

You should have glass beaded or painted that lower intake before installing it
