... Have we woken up, just now?
Wait.. is this at the end of our journey? Or the beginning? This place looks familiar, but the sounds, the feeling... It all feels.. different. Where WERE we, just before now?
... Are we currently at a time.. before our journey even began?
---------------------
Surprise! This is a bonus video for my TUNIC Ambience series, now officially bringing the video count from a lopsided 49 videos, to 50.
Sometimes the soundtrack alone is not enough: this is a loop of a lesser-known song that appeared only in a TUNIC Demo, which is NOT present on the OST; the song played for only a short time before you fought the boss of the area, therefore making this song VERY rare in TUNIC's history.
*Note, this area doesn't have an ambient track, and since it's an early version of West Garden, I've added the ambience from the final version of TUNIC to this song to add atmosphere.
The song is called 'Black Trees' off of Lifeformed's 'Immerse' album, which you can listen to here:

I do not own TUNIC or TUNIC's soundtrack, and claim no ownership or rights to this track. I DO own an official Tunic Plush though...

This is awesome! Tunic easily became one of my favorite games of all time. So its cool to see stuff like this since it wasn't on my radar before it released.

Thank you! TUNIC is fascinating, and its' entire history is very robust and interesting; I highly recommend reading the Wikipedia article of TUNIC; Andrew Shouldice's journey is simply fascinating, without being overtly complex. The world he had envisioned still continues to stun me to this day. :'3 When I played the demo for the first time, I had no idea that TUNIC would come to be my favourite game; I also had no idea how much it would differ from the final game. I would play the demo over and over-- and when TUNIC finally released, it was like I was playing something that was merely a myth, come into reality by sheer magic alone. It was incredible. It still is. And so, we celebrate it.

This is such a cool surprise!! I've never really seen TUNIC demo stuff before, so this is special! A very pretty mood here, and full of emotion ;-;

I used to play the TUNIC demo when it was available (it was a timed demo and was removed after about a week) and I had no idea how different the game would eventually be when it finally came out. This area is unique in that it's quite different, visually, from the final game and how it became; regardless, I thought this was a special bonus video to do, since it's a somewhat rare look into TUNIC's history. :)

@@SapphietShyies I'm super glad you decided to do it! This was a really creative and innovative idea. Plus, it feels like a nice "wave" to the developers and their journey! ^^ And it's just flat-out beautiful, so

love it. Kinda figured there would be another after the livestream hinted at it, but man, the DEMO? with some slight editing to line it up thematically? amazing. I didn't even know about the demo's existence before this. Amazing. Thank you for this, it's been amazing to re-experience TUNIC through it's ambience.

You're absolutely welcome to these videos, and I'm glad I was able to supply them; this song stuck out to me when I first played the demo years before TUNIC released. I'm glad I was able to provide this somewhat rare glimpse into TUNIC's history, and add it to the catalogue of already-incredible ambience tracks. :)

incredible, this is one of the earliest versions of TUNIC? And if so, how did you get it?

This is one of the earliest public demos of TUNIC, yes; it was released publicly for only a week (or perhaps it was a weekend, I forget) but as it was a timed demo, it was only available to play for a small window of time. To my knowledge, though, this is not the earliest-known demo; if I recall, earlier versions than even this version were playable at events and show-floors; this was one of them, though it got retooled to promote TUNIC back in 2018, I believe. The demo was fascinatingly different to what TUNIC eventually wound up being (the forest was called 'Level 3 - Fortress'; it was also located where the Sealed Temple is now, this specific West Garden mockup looked much more detailed, plus some other very interesting differences) but overall, it was a very rough-edged version of TUNIC. The demoes are no longer available on Steam, or anywhere else; it has, however, been unofficially uploaded to archive.org if you look hard enough for it..

aah!!! sorry for being absent from your comment section for a bit! i've been busy over these last couple of days, but i've catched up on these videos and i've got some final thoughts! first of all, that april fools video WAS pretty funny, and a good idea as well! i also agree with you, the west overworld theme has always felt like "progress" for me. it's a sign of progress, but also cheers you on to *keep* making progress! and then, i can definitely see why the overworld videos took a while... the west and east ones had pretty much perfect spots, and that 3-pack... wow. amazing work on the editing, seriously. it definitely feels like a celebration of TUNIC, its OST, and these videos! as for this upload... there was a demo of tunic?! i've seen a screenshot of this exact place, but i'm really intrigued now... the music here also fits quite well surprisingly. i have to personally thank you again for making these videos. you've done an amazing job, and you've honored an incredible game with some of the most creative and fun methods i've ever seen. -and thanks for putting me in the special thanks of the 3-pack!!! ❤

No worries being late, but we did miss you for sure. Thank you for the praise on the Overworld videos, because those were really hard to delay over and over again like that.. But I knew by doing the 3-Mix version and West and East versions all on the same day, it'd mean more, and make the day more special as a result-- 3-Mix was just a huge project, and it ALMOST didn't come out at all; I had a lot of production issues right near the end, but I was glad to get it out on the 1-year anniversary of the TUNIC Ambience series. :3 The demo of TUNIC was fascinatingly different, yeah-- there were a lot of changes and differences in it that were very interesting, that didn't translate into the final game, and this area is a perfect example; it has a somewhat different art style compared to the final game. He's not shown here, but the Garden Knight is just offscreen and looks far more detailed than he does in the final game. I'm happy to have supplied you with these videos, and I'm glad you were able to come along with it. :) It was a ton of fun to do, and interacting with all of you has been a wonderful experience. You belonged in the credits for sure! ❤

@@SapphietShyies i think i've maybe seen that "beta garden knight" somewhere... also, i apparently never commented on the cathedral video- although i wanted to! the cathedral is easily one of my favorite moments in any game, ever. the atmosphere there is... oh man, where do i even start? it feels so... *important*. and decisive, i guess you could say? the music is easily one of my favorites in the whole OST, and actually it's probably my favorite ambience video altogether! the ambience is really unique and it's just a nice plus to the already-great song.

I'm glad you've found a favourite video in this Ambience series! I'm not sure where I stand personally, but I think my absolute favourite is either the West Garden or the Overworld at night-- that really is atmospheric and enjoyable, in my opinion. The Cathedral is quite nice, though I admit a little too 'dangerous' sounding for my tastes (not its' fault, it's just being itself) but it definitely is atmospheric, for sure. They nailed the tone there. Wish I could make a poll asking what everyone's favourites are, but I don't think KZbin would like me posting a poll with 50 answers.. :3
