I have to say im in the same boat as you except all my noise is from a general store/butchers shop just below my flat. I raised a formal complaint with OFCOM, and the Radio Investigation Service got involved, and after a lot of head scratching and umming and ahhing it was found to be the emergency lights on the shop below me, AND their antiquated freezers that havent seen a clean yet alone a service engineer for many many years. It turns out that the Radio Investigation Service, decided they did not want to do anything about the shop, as they, and I really am quoting their exact words, "we are not prosecuting or taking this further, as we do not want to cause the business concerned any financial or other inconvenience". I still have this noise today and am looking for a supplier of the QRM eliminator thats in the UK and wont take weeks to deliver or steal my hard earned cash.... all comments greatly appreciated. As long as they are constructive....

Ofcom has a lot to answer for this undue interference, it truly is killing our hobby off. Great video as usual thanks for posting

Well what the gov can't control they will destroy. What better way then RF noise to kill radio.

hii, good video well explained , i suffer from high noise level , very irritating i know , simple things like don't let the coax cable be next to power cable's ,i now use Ecoflex 15 coaxial cable and lost and 2 s points in noise , adjust the RF control and the display sensitivity ,also AGC set on fast, few things to try for free, good luck ,73 from Rotterdam .

Hi, thanks for trying, but I think that you might have the wrong technique. I think that you should 1. Set the Main ant gain to minimum. 2.set the aux gain to near maximum, measure the noise-level on the S-meter. 3. Turn down the aux gain. 4. Set the main gain for the same s-meter noise reading as found on aux antenna. 5 Set the aux gain to the setting used just now. This makes the level of the noise, coming from the main and aux antennas, the same. 6. Adjust the phase for the null in the noise. I think that you will find this a lot quicker. Hope that helps! 🙂

Interesting video John as most I’ve suffered with qrm for a long time I have the mfj1026 but bought one of these QRM eliminators to try it. Wondering what you are using for noise antenna? That’s the key I think 30m is my worst band for noise. Cliff VK2NP

I think you need to go out with a scanner and find the problem 🤔 not sure how you can explain to the person making the noise, it might be a charger on a battery doing the EMC nice antenna setup :) where's the pole in the background the big one from any links, I also have a QRM Eliminator not tried it yet, what antenna are you using on it to pick the noise up? Thanks Tom 2E1FUE

Hi Tom the pole I bought from ebay from a lad called Ian GW4 XLS. The Antenna is 66 foot end fed wire. . Cheers

I’m not convinced by the examples I am seeing on KZbin that the QRM eliminator is actually being tweaked correctly. Sure, the S meter reading dips, but I’m listening with my ears, not my eyes, and I’m not hearing much of any difference. What I find interesting is that a $5,000 state of the art transceiver has no SNR reading on the panel. My inexpensive SDRUNO software has a reading for SNR. I think SNR is the figure we should be watching, not S-meter readings (unless you take into account the reading of the wanted signal as compared to the noise floor, with and without the QRM device enabled, which would basically be a SNR Calc done on the fly, in your head, real-time. Actually, I’m taking a step back from my first comment a bit. Your demonstration in this video is actually the first convincing example of a QRM device (system) that is properly tweaked and does work as per theory. I didn’t see this until the end of the video. Nice work.

Had better luck than I did. Tried to cancel out a battery charger with a pulsing sound without success. Put the aux antenna right next to the source as well.
