Tuning Tech. How to know if you need a tune. Jeep SRT-8 Power

In this video we explore the difference between whether a vehicle "needs" a tune or if the customer just "wants" a tune. This is an important step in the diagnotic process when the customer believes their vehicle needs a tune to run properly but dosn't have any parts that would require a tune. For our test vehicle in this video we have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 with the 6.1L Hemi motor being tuned using the HP-Tuners MVPI2 interface.

Regardless of what you have done to your Jeep SRT8 stock or not, minor mods, any mods besides stock is always a great piece of mind getting a proper tune from a reputable mechanic like this guy, & at the end of the day you will be guaranteed better than you were before, and your SRT8 was diagnosed, & fixed correctly. Just snagged my 2014 Dodge Chartger R/T Sport & Track 💪 dynoed it I’m making roughly 420 torque and 400 horses I don’t think I need a tune car hasn’t given me any reason why I would need a tune but i may get one just to see how much hp Increase I get

Hi, nice video!. Do you have experience running the SRT at 100 miles per hour how much it consume of fuel? I would like to buy one, but first I need to know fuel consumption at that speed. Thank you.

For endurance racing? You can fairly accurately calculate fuel consumption based on horsepower. You will need to do some math to find what rpm you'll mostly be at. Then look at engine horsepower output. You can find brake specific fuel consumption calculators online. The big variable is horsepower.

@@WT4T Hi, thank you. Not too much sophisticated. I use to drive at 100miles per hour in the highway. I have a 300 HP passat CC. It has a good relationship with the fuel, but it has not 425 Horse power and is not a big V8 engine. Just to know how big is the fuel consumption hole I am jumping in. If you have the experience in the highway at higher speed, please let me know. I will help. Thank you guy.

It is horrible at anything over 70 mph. The gear ratio in the truck is very low for acceleration. At 100mph you are going to be turning over 3500 rpms in 5th gear. You don't buy this truck for fast autobahn style cruising. You buy it for acceleration...0-60, 1/4 mile, etc...

@@gustavososa4364 6 or 7 mpg maximum. My gas needle literally moves if I'm at that pace for more than a minute or two. I wouldn't be concerned about fuel mileage if you're driving fast....if you are, a prius will do 100mph 😅

@bentonb7614 it's a common misconception. Subarus are like 40% of what I tune but there's a LOT of Mopar and others

It's kind of a tricky question. Tuning price is currently $225/hr on the dyno. Typical tune is 3-4 hours but can be more or less depending on the vehicle setup.

@@devonb6400 Diablo Tuner and you can let it know you have cold air intake and an exhaust for a better tune, the good Diablo tuners have preset tunes for 93 octane cold air and exhaust and if you want more hit a dyno

Hi so I've been dabbling with tuning my car because i customized it to much that it needed a tune. 2008 Subaru impreza 2.5i mods custom 2.5 inch intake sucking fresh air from pass side fog cover. Non fog light model. Stock headers but hollow. Custom 2.5 straight exhaust with a high flow muffler. Perrin lightweight crank pulley. Exedy stage 2 clutch with lightweight flywheel. Complete whiteline polyurethane throughout car. 22mm rear stabalizer bar added short throw shifter. Steel braided lines for brakes and clutch. Only run 93 octane fuel. With all my weight reduction off crank what would u do for a tune. I have tat and can data log would appreciate help or advice thnx

Hi buddy I fallow B mason for over 2 years now help me build my 5.7 . Currently was gonna go get out of the Mopar and get myself a truck a LS Silverado until I ran into a neighbor in the garage that has a SRT 86.1 jeep grand Cherokee with 44,000 miles man. It’s stopping me in my tracks. Where are you located at, how can I get my car tune by you you seem very intelligent and I like guys that are smart and no other things like me. I’m not good with computers but I can make me help someone help me do it because the guys here in California there’s not too many they’re shady and they’re tuning. I wouldn't exactly call them slow for a vehicle their size. When they were new they could pull on just about any suv/truck on the road with only a couple exceptions. Ive seen them run low 11's with just a nitrous kit and a few boltons and a tune. Not many suv can touch that for the money.

@@WT4T ohh trust me I agree! these things with some performance upgrades are disgusting but stock form they’re fairly slow but when you think about it in suv form, it’s for sure very quick. love your videos 👍🏻
