Tuning the 25 06 for caribou HD 1080p

Morning Greg My lil brothers Favorite caliber! I load him 120 Grand Slam bullets. Thats all he wants! YES on security velocity of copper slugs. They DO NOT expand well or consistently at low velocities!

I like the all copper when you are really pushing them fast. They shoot super well in my 458 Win as well but more worried about long range expansion.

@@north61 agreed if speed is kept up. Agreed. Another option is the Lehigh defense fluid technology but these are very short range options only.

Hello cw. Copper is supper hard metal . I work on every day basis but can be made super soft also. These bullet kind shy away of do the day get force to use them. Hammer bullets make very cool ones with Hp

I love the 25-06. With 120 grain premium bullets, it will consistently take anything up to including moose. Grizzly bears, I want something bigger, but mule deer, elk, caribiu, sheep and moose, cannot beat it. My experience as a guide was hunters with magnums missed or wounded as often as killing the animal cleanly.

Try a 110 TTSX in 270 Win. I use Superformance and W760. I'm reading a looking more into the 25-06. My local FFL has a NIB Sako 85 wood furniture. He's asking $1800.

If you have a good 270 it will so what a 25-06 does with a bit more bullet mass. I lucked into a good light weight 25-06 if it had been a 270 it would have been a bit more versatile..but I do like the 25-06.

Thank you for the info on the Barnes Bullet. In my experience the TTSX has been very accurate and a great performing hunting bullet. I have 2, 25-06 rifles and have used them most, of any caliber, to hunt whitetail. Ive used the 120gr grand slam bullet by speer and the Barnes 100gr TTSX. Both have been savagely devastating. Maybe it’s the speed? Don’t know but 25-06 just seems to drop them. Great vid as always. Thank you for sharing with us.

This comment has nothing to do with the .25-06, which appears to be real caribou magic. But, I found and bought a Winchester Model 94 Big Bore Dark Shadow in .444 Marlin. I know you like the lever actions like the Savage Model 99 in .358 Win., your lovely Model 71 in .348 Win and your Model 94 Big Bore in .375 Winchester. But, I thought you may be interested to know the .444 Marlin in a Winchester platform is now in my gun safe. My research indicates it's a pretty good round, with the right loads for elk and moose. The Leverevolutions with the 265 grain FTX bullet touts over 3100 ft.lbs of ME and point blank range of 150 yards. Reloading manuals appear to keep data at pretty anemic levels. The Model 94 Big Bore is designed to manage chamber pressure of up to 55,000 psi where the Marlins top out at 45,000 psi. Rifle range on Tuesday to see if my bore sighting is in the neighborhood. Wish me luck!

You should be able to load that 444 into the light dinosaur range in the big bore 94! How fun!

What do you think of the new 257 weathery magnum in the model 307? It claims to throw a 120 grain at 3305 and a 117 at 3400 with ammunition off the shelf. Which I'm sure could be reloaded to even faster if necessary? No?

It's a round I have long wanted to try out! I think it would be amazing and with 115 TSX bullets even moose wouldn't be safe!

25-06 is a very cool offspring of 30-06 and dose amazing job for deer in sheep and goat and i say properly be ok for Black bear with good bullet with some wight.

All good but 25-06 is a hunting round. Shoot a creed if youre shooting distance n paper. 400 yds is maybe ethical hunting distance. Hunt or shoot paper

For the areas you hunt caribou, do you really need a point blank range of 363 yards?

Caribou move all the time. Even when feeding they cover a lot of ground. Very hard to intercept them on foot. 400 yard shots are not that uncommon. Only 8" low with a 300 yard zero!

I have a custom 25-06 and a nice 308 too. Both 24" barrels. Both shoot sub moa. In ethical hunting distances, both are rifles i would never let go of. Paper? 308 shoots well too. Buy a 6.5 creed and do another review. There's a difference between paper n flesh
