Tunisia has been, for us, the discovery of the year. To me, it was just an old-fashioned destination for bachelor parties, fake tourist tents and resort trips, but I was completely wrong. Join me on this journey and let yourself be surprised just as I am by a country that, little by little, catches you and makes you want more.
I could use many travel clichés to talk about it, so better immerse yourself with us on this "road trip" and let yourself be amazed by discovering the lesser-known side of Tunisia. Now, after a drastic drop in tourism due to political and religious tensions, attacks and dictators as rulers, it is a safe and uncrowded destination. Don't miss this opportunity!
Tunisia, the smallest and most liberal country in the Maghreb, declared its independence in the 1950s. The long historical journey to reach that independence is a path full of conquests, wars, changes of government, of inhabitants, etc. that has forged the peculiar idiosyncrasy of this small territory in North Africa. From the Phoenicians to the Ottomans, passing through the Dacians, the struggles with the Berbers defending their territory, the invasions of the Spanish and thousands of other conflicts, until its relatively liberal modernity, have contributed to the current melting pot of settlers and ancestral customs that have has been shaping this exciting country.
With its 12 million inhabitants, 40% of the territory belonging to the Sahara desert, hundreds of oases and palm groves, endless beaches, troglodyte houses thousands of years old, ksars and Martian landscapes in which some of the scenes of the saga were filmed of Star Wars, Tunisia offers you a cultural and historical range that will meet the expectations of any lover of travel, history and new destinations.
