I highly recommend trying Tunisian crochet with variegated yarn, for dishcloths. It mixes the colors up and they just shimmer and move in and out of each other, it's fun to make and fun to look at the finished product!

This may be odd, but of the crochet videos I've watched, you are the only one to hold the yarn in between your index finger and middle finger like I do. That's how my mom taught me, and my grandma taught her.

Isn’t it harder to keep even tension?
@RAM3StrandsАй бұрын
@@lareenzollinger9721 I haven't had a problem with that, but sometimes I feel my hand could cramp. I've tried the other way with the yarn draping over the top of my index finger, but I'm not used to it and I hook the yarn hanging down in the back, though it can relieve the cramping and allow you to keep crocheting. Surprisingly, I make my stitches too tight sometimes, so maybe the two techniques are not so much about tension as it is cramping lol. I don't know

Omgosh! This stitch is fabulous!it is easy, it is dense, and I love the back. But most of all, I love how the top row can be finished as is. No need to do the top slip stitch, unless you are adding a border, or are particular about a matching chain- I like the different top.

This is another way of Tunisian crochet compared to the one that I've done. I didn't realise there were different stitches🌞 "Mine" is a bit more simple, maybe especially if you're a beginner. You only get one vertical loop to work with. That's what I am used to, but this was interesting to watch and learn😊

What a great stitch! Thank you. I wonder- would one be able to use it diagonally as in a C2C or dec & inc at the edges? So often we learn new stitches but including how to inc & dec r never included! This seems to be a sturdy stitch so I have visions of “going diagonal” but my mind is shy trying to do it… Be great if a precedent were set?! Please😊❤️J C in Australia

Hi Why is it so hard to do the first row in the back bumps. Chain row keeps getting too small to get the hook in. Using exactly same hook and yarn. HELP.

Could be the tension difference between the two of you. Try going up a hook size or two for your foundation chain, and then going back to the original hook for the body of your blanket. Hope this helps!

Do you mean with what hook? You'll need a Tunisian crochet hook with a long cable attached. I go in depth here: icancrochetthat.com/best-tunisian-crochet-hooks/
@nancyfew13757 ай бұрын
Is this the same as the old afghan stitch? I never could get it to work on a regular crochet hook: the stitches at the beginning (right side)of the hook ended up really loose, while the stitches on the left side were too tight. I'd love to do a baby blanklet for my great-grandson in this stitch, but don't think I could get that many loops on one hook. Suggestions?
@nancyfew13753 ай бұрын
I have the same problem with the stitches, but I found a long crochet hook at Hobby Lobby that should be long enough to make a blanket for MY great-grandson. Or you could try to find a hook with the cable like the one she has. I don't know if that will solve the problem of the loose right-side, tight left-side stitch issue, but give it a try. BTW, the half double is my favorite stitch, so I'm eager to try this pattern.
