Check behind the front right wheel for the alarm siren. My alarm on a RR Silver Spur was faulty and wouldn't switch off and we had to find the siren to disconnect it, and it was there. Not sure if same on your model. Good luck!

Would love a Silver Spirit……one day. This car is a credit to you. Not many RR owners would know half that stuff. I would say that the wood door cappings would be mirror images. They would do one door then take the next slice of veneer which would be almost identical, reverse it and use it on the opposite door. There is probably a stamped number on each door capping to ensure they are kept as a set in the factory. On some RRs where the dash is in two pieces, each side would be a mirror image….maybe not on your car as it possibly one piece of veneer. The inlay is beautiful. Apologies if you have explained this in another video as this is the first of your videoes I have seen. BTW I think if you check your owners manual you will find that it is compulsory to put all the interior lights on for Christmas Day. 😉

She keeps looking better and better with each video. Good idea about the rear cigar lighters. Something flush fitting with some walnut veneer would look very smart against the chrome work. The Carphone is a GSM will still work if you put a sim card in it. Did you see the Blaupunkt Frankfurt bluetooth radio Videobob fitted to his Rolls-Royce Corniche looks Period correct but with the modern must haves.

Just a thought on the oil level switch - it may operate with ignition on & engine off state - this was the case with the rover pi’s dating from the first rover 75 1950 vintage - give it a try as it can’t hurt - enjoying the videos - bringing the car back to life and your enthusiasm - Reg New Zealand

Engine oil level switch / gauge should work with ignition on and with or without the engine running. You can check while driving along. If it's not showing at the little line on the fuel gauge, but the fuel gauge is working, then either the push button contacts have corroded or the sender unit isn't working, in the sump or... You have insufficient oil! For your front left central locking, try operating it (lock, u lock, etc.) with the window open, while you ease the manual indicator/control up and down. When these cars are left, all manner of switches, relays and operating motors stick, and often just need a bit of encouragement to get 'em working again. When not using this car, do keep operating everything, and run the engine for ten minutes, or take a short drive, to stop such seizures, and also your tyres going 'square'. I have rebuilt a Bentley Turbo R, and currently own and maintain my Continental R, so have been through all this.

Been told you have to take the front wheel off to see it and it's located somewhere on the inner plastic wing, but not sure whether drivers or passenger side

I have just done a quick search of my "Bentley Assist" on line manual. You may have an alarm sensor on the mascot - worth knowing about. Cannot find location of the siren, but on my Seraph its in the front NS wheel arch behind a plastic cover. The Seraph has 18 interior lights that operate automatically, and as such RR fitted 2 batteries with one dedicated to starting and running. Flat auxilliary battery is common on these, you can see why. I replaced all interior lamps with LED and in so doing reduced the battery hit to just over 2 amps. The doors have red marker lights as well as "Puddle lights" as RR call them. I fitted a high power puddle light in my drivers door. I also modded the lighting so that the grill and mascot light up with blue gallium nitride LEDs, it looks spectacular. Did the same with the interior foot level lights, my car has blue carpets. When purchased the alarm fobs were broke and system faulty, so I hacked in a modern Viper 350S system which has modern waterproof fobs. I fixed it so that the side lights come on as well as interior lights on unlock, this includes the grill and mascot. I am a hobbyist electronics engineer, this work is specialised be warned. Good luck with the car, you are doing well and have luck on your side as I have commented before. If I get any more info re the siren, will get back to you.

Hi Paul, another option that Rolls did was veneered door cards. It was very rare & you only see a handful of cars with them nowadays. I suspect it was a very expensive option when the cars were new. You could get them in the equivalent Bentley's too. Some cars only had 2 doors done like this (usually the rear ones). Some had all 4 veneered.

You have secured yourself a very beautiful car there, I’m so jealous! Just one thought, please do not remove the cigar lighters. They’re very beautiful and OEM fit. Apart from the hazard of potentially dodgy phone chargers left in the sockets surely you and your passengers can do without charging your phones during a journey?

Regarding your alarm there will be 2 ni/cd batteries in the security controller which will have died or leaked. Dash top has to be taken off, strip down security controller circuit board and solder in new batteries. I believe memory seats use ni/cd batteries too.

Not to be "that guy", but it looks like there may be a hairline crack in the varnish of the woodwork at the top-centre of the four-in-one gauge. A better man than I might be able to advise whether there's any way to deal with it to prevent further splitting or ingress of moisture. It could have just been a trick of the light with the camera, but I noticed it a couple of times I think. It's a beautiful car though. I envy your skills and determination.

I love your videos about the Rolls Royce, but I hate to say it, listening to your narration is painful due to the random pauses mid sentence. I don't know if you're doing that deliberately to drag the content out, or to add emphasis in random spots, but at least for me, its not working, it makes the narration rather jarring to listen do. Sorry, don't take that as a personal attack, because as I say, otherwise, I love your videos. Also be careful using a 12V Cig lighter socket to USB adapter, especially if using it to charge smart devices, because the power supplied by the 12V cig lighters is not clean and can be rather "spicy", and have random voltage surges, which can burn through any protection provided by those adapters (especially cheap Chinese ones), and fry the device you have plugged into them. I learned that from painful experience.
@jayeblagburn2056
@jayeblagburn2056 Ай бұрын
I have to say that the pace of the videos - all of them - is fine for me. The narration is calm and easier for me to listen to than some channel creators' rapid talking pace, which can be irritating for me as I have an ASD and really appreciate having the time to take in the information presented to us. That's not my way of saying that anyone else's opinion is less valid, it isn't but we're not all the same and perhaps the respondent who isn't so comfortable with the calm, smooth approach could turn up the playback speed on the KZbin page? I use that function to slow down a far too rapid way of speaking
