Thanks Brad. *Sort by Newest First or Top Comments if only the first few lines are visible* 0:28. Wastewater Treatment plant. A possible worksite of the ‘Giga Texas Offsite Wastewater Interceptor’ project. Looking for the contractor’s name ‘Ward and Burke’ to confirm. 2:15. Southend, east. Through the window openings. Lots of scaffold around the tanks in the Tank Farm. Some pipework visible. 5:50. Westside, Tunnel Project. MotherTruck. No sign of screw fixing of the cladding. No deformation along the joints that would suggest welding. Cladding appears to be adhesive fixed only. 5:56. Westside, Tunnel Project. Portal. Roll-up door channels visible cut into the retaining wall and above. Chain for manual operation on the left.

@@benguthrie49 Hi Ben. No I didn't. I have a 'difficult' relationship with Jazz! There's some jazz that I really like, and the rest.... I'm not a musician (my kids are, weirdly). A very good friend has a successful Jazz band that I go and see a couple of times a year. Plays at the Paris Cat, a popular Melbourne jazz venue.

@@Frank-gt7me 5:50. Probably a urethane adhesive, but not a foaming adhesive as used at Battery. Maybe one of the Sikaflex range specifically for metals. I would guess double sided tape to locate each piece while the adhesive sets.

@@DavidJohnson-tv2nnat 7’ diameter they can use pipe jacking techniques with a non- man entry TBM (micro tunnelling). Although the term “micro tunnelling” tends to be associated with smaller diameter pipe jacking where man entry, even for repair, is not possible. ( I. E. Less that 4’ internal diameter).

Thanks Brad for the view south of the river! Wastewater Interceptor project: @ 0:30 Likely the southeast end of the project. The wastewater treatment plant is in back (top). Right..... Stacks of conduit? Parallel orange fences likely mark the alignment. No large cranes or ring forms for TBM shafts yet. The part of the project we have seen up until now is @ 7:24 (Upper left) where the 2 cranes are. Tunnel: @ 5:54 Good close up view inside. Does the tunnel take another dip down further back? Also.... Unusual that there appears to be no sprinkler or fire suppression system, given the fire danger from Lithium Ion batteries. Yet there is a permit fire a alarm system. I guess in Texas companies can do whatever they want.
@DessieDoolan3 күн бұрын
5:54. A traction battery fire in an EV couldn’t be estinguished by a fire sprinkler system. In the incredibly unlikely event of such a fire, flooding the tunnel would be a possible fix. No fire sprinklers in the Las Vegas tunnel either.
@DavidJohnson-tv2nn3 күн бұрын
@@DessieDoolan Even if the fire couldn't be extinguished, couldn't it be suppressed? Spraying water would cool the tunnel walls, possibly preventing damage. Also it could prevent a fire from spreading to other vehicles. I remember a 40 story building built in the 1970s. No sprinkler system even though the technology existed. That is, until years later when they did a remodel and were required to install it after codes were changed.
@DavidJohnson-tv2nn3 күн бұрын
@@DessieDoolan In my opinion, the Las Vegas Tunnel is a disaster waiting to happen.
@Frank-gt7me3 күн бұрын
There did appear to be a fire main installed under the floor decking (large black pipe with red couplings), but I don’t see any sprinkler risers or heads. Maybe someday we’ll get to see a fly-through (or drive-through) and get a better look. Businesses do get fire inspections, although likely not as often as they should. Likely one needed to close out the building permit though.
@DavidJohnson-tv2nn3 күн бұрын
@@Frank-gt7me I saw the fire main too. Which is why I'm surprised that there no visible sprinkler heads. I think the problem is building code requirements. They should be required to have fire sprinkler systems in tunnels.
