My great grandfather immigrated from Tunstall to America in 1909 and he used to work in the potteries. I visited family in Tunstall in 1996. It was a nice town during the 90’s. It’s sad to see it in such decline. I wanted to visit again but after seeing this I think I’ll stay away.

Those little box-type homes were built by the local council as social housing in the late 1960s and early 1970s. My best mate from school was moved into one and it was tiny. I thought that they would have been demolished years ago. They were supposed to have a lifetime of 20 to 25 years. My late Father attended that school, he served in WWII in the RN and was stationed in India at one point. He taught me tolerance and acceptance of other people and their beliefs. He would be happy to see his old school back in use rather than being left to rot, as it has been empty for years. I personally think that faith schools whatever the faith is should not exist. Nothing is said about Catholic schools but some people think Islamic schools or Jewish schools should not be allowed? You allow all faith schools or you allow none. I agree with the French that religion has no place in education. However, it is good to see that old building in use. People are people no matter the colour of their skin or their beliefs.

So sad to see the way this town has deteriorated. Could it be because of the closing of some of the potteries?

Sad to see the decline of everywhere now, and worsening. If people cannot see what is happening, they never will😂. Thank you for showing us round MM.

Bloody hell that was grim! Bet you couldn't wait to drive away from what was undoubtedly the most damp, depressing town you've ever featured😬

Been my home town for many years.. The people are friendly.. OK it's a mess years of neglect from the council have turned it into the place you see on this video.. A little research on history or speaking to people you may get a better reflection.

I wholly blame the council, a good friend of mine lives nearby and like most towns assures me they were once bustling. My home town of Macclesfield is experiencing a similar fate and it's heartbreaking.

Just found your channel. I like the moss on the old big building because it's your climate that does it. Green Old England! So GREEN! NYC used to have a lot of really cool one of a kind stores..It still does but just a bit further out from center. Unless the seller also owns the building. or upstairs off the street. The reason stores stay empty for years now is because of banks and the real estate tax structure, also big box and ordering on line instead of buying off the self. Small shops have to mark it all up. Monopolies. The one of only neighborhoods in Manhattan that still has a lot of old stores is the richest. That would be the Upper East Side. It doesn't change quite as fast as other neighborhoods. Also there is a lot of international real estate investment in Manhattan. Of course NYC has 185 nationalities. Borough of Queens is one of the most diverse communities in the world. Where the "All in the Family" TV show was set. Archie and Edith Bunker. The pigeons......how many generations have lived on that square? They looked healthy and well fed to be honest. A man on my block fed the birds. Some new comer told him not to because they sh*t on the cars. He said: "Get used to it."
