There's no light spill if you put it right at the surface - a major hassle I hear comes with other lights. The greatness of the review is that you say it should be fine for Red Sea 250 and below. Tunze makes some amazing products. from what I hear and I will be sure to pick some of them up in the future for my main build ;)

They do run at a lower intensity out of water unfortunately, although running them submerged can be an issue in the summer when it can be tricky to keep water temp under control. A pretty versatile light though, i sometimes mount one underwater in the main display to light a frag rack.

I just bought a trigger sump/fuge combo from BRS and I was looking at lights. I was torn between this one and the ChaetoMax that’s sold out rn. Looks like I’m grabbing this one, I didn’t even consider putting a timer on it to keep it on a schedule.

I have a request, I’d like to see a video on feeding fish, how you prepare your food frozen food ect and how much you feed each day, unless you have done this already 😂

Hmm. I've probably mentioned it in passing in my tank updates. But the answer is pretty simple with me! Two cubes of frozen, just defrost and throw them in. Plus one or two lots of pellets on an auto feeder and a bit of nori once or twice a week for the herbivores 🙂

Hi Alex. Is this what you ended up staying with for nutrient reduction? I have the kessil h380 which I've been using for a year on and off and have a feeling it may just be too strong. It has grown chaeto for me in the past, but growth has halted and all the nutrients I can test for say it should be ok. I'm thinking of going with two of these? Do you find it gets and keeps your now and po4 low enough for use as sole nutrient reduction? Many thanks mate. Ben

Hi Ben. Kind of, yes. I still have 2 of these and they grow chaeto quicker than I can be bothered to pull it out! They'll definitely be weaker than the Kessil behemoth! But my po4 is always high and I'm fed up of that. I had hoped to use chaeto for that but I think I'd need twice as much space and twice as much light to stand any chance of that happening. So I now use Rowaphos again. It's a PITA but it's just so damn good at its job 🤷‍♂️ My po4 has been as high as 0.6 and it's currently 0.3, which is 10x higher than I'd like.

Hey Alex love your channel I bought aqua one mini reef since watching your channel I have totally upgraded equipment I have x filter 1.0 , nyos skimmer , nano uv steriliser , vectra m1 pump but I’ve got little space under the x filter in return section thinking about adding one of these refugium lights & bit chaeato what you think ? Am I going over board or just trying to maximise filtration

How do you know how much algae to use in your fuge? I have an aquamaxx HOB with the skimmer and I’m trying to set one up

Doesn't really matter. Just chuck a handful in and it'll grow. Then pull half out every time it fills up.

Have you ever had a problem growing hair algae on your cheato and sump? I have got my mars hydro 300 eco down to 7 hours now, cheato is dark green but doent grow, but hair algae growing like crazy.

Nope, never i'm afraid. I'd pull it out manually as often as you can and try to bring phosphate down if you can.

I think so Gaz - I tried to buy the AI fuge based on a few YT reviews a while back but they were out of stock. There was nothing on the fuge that said it's waterproof which is ridiculous for a £250 sump light! In the end, that was my most important thing to get right. Having two or three is the way to go for me - that four way PSU we talked about on UR makes that a great option.

Sorry didn’t think to look there got me a upgrade to Red Sea 425 and trying to sort everything outs so cable look good and everything neat lol 😂 no how hard that is so many plugs lol 😂 and trying to get sump neat aswell just wish Red Sea had a manifold on sale for there own tanks .

Yep, I have 3 on each of my tanks now. I love them - they're the best fuge lights available in my opinion.

Luxbird par38 which broke. Then a similar cheap Chinese job temporarily.

One should keep in mind that red algae do not absorb red light, and that green algae do not absorb green light. A white light lamp will work with most types of algae🤡
