You put the water in with the ground coffee?

The coffee grounds go in the metal filter. Then the room temperature water is poured in. Then you cover and place it in the fridge over night. When you brew it cold, it is less acidic and so delicious.

Sorry for the delay in responding. not sure why I didn't see the question. Hot water won't hurt it but it would defeat the purpose of the product.

Using hot water would defeat the purpose of it being for cold brewing. Once you go through the cold brew process you can heat the coffee in the microwave (using a microwave safe container not the cold brew carafe.) If You do that you will still have the benefits of the cold brew process.
