My mom loved Tupperware! They also had a lifetime warranty and in the rare case something broke, she could trade in the piece no matter how old it was. Wish more companies did this today!

My mom used to have Tupperware parties in the early 80s. They didn't seem to have the pretty pastel colors then, I just remember everything being avocado green, fire orange, harvest gold and dark brown. This is one thing I'm not too sad about going out of business because even as a small child I hated plastic containers and dishes. They do hold onto odors even if you wash them well. I use glass or ceramic as much as possible.

I went to several Tupperware parties in the 70s with my mother. The quality definitely is better than many modern brands. I still have several pieces that must be over 40 years old and they are still as good as new.

Wow. Tupperware was so commonplace as a kid. My mom didn’t sell or have Tupperware parties but she did sell and do parties for Home Interiors. It was home decor very popular in 80’s and 90’s. You could host parties and order from a seller. I see a lot of it on Etsy now.

Thank you for this! I never knew that Tupperware had been around for so long. My mother held a Tupperware party in the early 80s when I was a very little girl and told me it was a new way to store things. So I have always believed it came out in the late 70s or something. Also, I refer to all plastic, resealable containers as “Tupperware.” Most people probably have no idea what I’m talking about, I just assumed everything of that nature goes by that name. Sad that the company is dying. Maybe I’ll look into hosting a party if it isn’t too late!

I love tupperware, though I am a little afraid to use it and stain or ruin my beautiful pastel pieces. The 2 things I don't like are the prices .. and that they put out some great pieces I would love to buy, but then I see it's only available in colors I don't like... I think at this point their client base may be made up with a large portion of us being those who love vintage, but do not want used, stained, only plastics and would rather have a new unused item, but still long for it to be the vintage... reproductions are their best bet, to keep profits up ... pastel colors, straight reproductions ( I personally want the pastels, but others may even want the 60's and 70's colors ) Maybe they should take polls, offer choice of colors on items. I don't want to see the company go under either. Also, if their website had a payment option with a payment plan such as paypal in for or afterpay, they would probably get a lot more sales ... their latest set of pastel bowls was priced at over $100. - not a lot of people are gonna pay that all at once for plastic bowls and lids... but with a payment plan, many more probably would ( myself included )

I had Tupperware parties in the early 1980s, and also attended parties, so I have a lot of it. After all these years I still use many items every day. It's great, none of the lids have ripped, containers, strainers, drinking glasses, and mixing bowls etc. are all as good as new.

I love Pyrex bowls with lids. I own a bunch of them (including Hello Kitty!) and they are so great and worth the $8 each. I've owned most of them for 7+ years and have had zero issues. I like Pyrex because I can reheat meals in the microwave, they helped me lose over 100 lbs lol.

I have my grandmothers Tupperware glasses from the 1950s and very similar ones I bought in the 1990s as well as many other pieces I bought. I also hosted a party at that time. I still have some pieces my family had from the 1970s and 1980s. I remember many other pieces we had back in the 1960s including the narrow juice container and Popsicle maker, and a set of freezer containers which we used for years. Seems like some of the best things (i.e.home parties) are now gone.

Wow, I didn't realize that Tupperware was still around. My mom, grandma, and aunties had quite a collection and would come after anyone who didn't return them when they borrowed. Tupperware was a superior product, more than anything else on the market back then. That may still be the case. They had a container for every occasion, and the pieces would last for years without any signs of wear and tear. My mom would shop for discontinued pieces at local flea markets or estate sales. Now that I know they're still in business, I will purchase a few. Thanks so much for sharing.

Tupperware is hands down the best food storage. I’ve stored vegetables in the fridge and they became forgotten in the back. When I opened them 3-4 weeks later, they were like new. I went back to using my Tupperware regularly after that. It’s just too expensive to buy new, and I’m missing lids

Had an Aunt who sold it so we attended a lot of parties and had a lot of it from the 70’s and 80’s. Still very useable! I still use my moms celery keeper. She had a deviled egg carrier and a cake carrier that went to every holiday party/dinner. I had a Tupperware lunch kit in 6th grade, it was orange. I think I still have the lidded cup! The popsicle maker was useful as was the head lettuce keeper. It really was a value product back then. Times have changed so much because of the internet. People don’t socialize in person like they used to so selling parties just aren’t as appealing. Most people today don’t want to have people over, which is sad.

I definitely have a soft spot for Tupperware lol my grandmother sold it to supplement her income as a full time RN because at the time nurses only made minimum wage. By the time I came around, she was no longer selling it but their home was stocked up as well as all my uncles and my mothers home so I grew up thinking everyone had Tupperware kitchens. I was a little disappointed when I realized that wasn’t standard and that the cheaper store bought plastic storage wasn’t as durable or nice haha 😂 the pastel vintage sets are goals to me 😆

Laura Jane ~ You're wearing my favorite cherry earrings & red petal print dress ~ so cute 🍒 I too am a nostaligic company preservationist & dislike buyout or dismantling. Never used tupperware ~ was always into making exact portion & not storing in refrigerator. Also was always very anti-plastic & preferred using fine China 🤷‍♀️if any to be chilled. This was a great window on the iconic ware of Tupperware. Thank You Laura Jane 🍒

I went to a Tupperware party in my early 20s. I found it awkward and antiquated. Tupperware has always been pricey, even decades ago. The containers have a tendency to become discolored, bad smelling and it's not microwave friendly. My opinion is it simply didn't keep up with modern lifestyles and address stiff product competition. There are options in the marketplace that have solved all of the aforementioned problems.
