Open-air-performance of Puccini's Turandot. The clip starts at "In questa reggia", sung by Austrian dramatic soprano Getrude Grob-Prandl. Gastone Limarilli as the unknown Prince hits a high C in "Gli enigmi sono tre", a note not often heard by him. This recording has never been published.

Super good! Sad for Limarilli, who was against a singing volcano! Also you want to know a fun fact, there's an Interview here on KZbin with Giaiotti, who (unbeknownst to many) was a renowned prankster and was really good with imitating people. Giaiotti recounts how he and a colleague pranked Limarilli on phone faking a German agent promising a huge engagement. Limarilli went downstairs that night bragging about this, in Veneto dialect "fioi! Finalmente ghe xe da far un pochi de schei!". Which means "hey lads! I'mma earn a bit of money at last!"

This "In Questa Reggia" tops even her performance from Trieste in 1953 (a complete recording from there exists). I have not heard of this tenor Limarilli before & want to hear more of him, I think. Sounds to be in the Corelli-Del Monaco vein.
