So happy I found this tutorial again! When I wear my mitpachot I never can remember. The stick pins I need to figure something else out. I have no idea how Muslim women wear them without sticking themselves in the head. I know I would or my kids would touch my head. Any other suggestions? Without pins?

I don't wear an underscarf and it's not a requirement. You can wear one but I find them too tight on my head.I have oodles of them and like none of them. I get bad headaches and indentations on my head from them. Not worth it. She shows the front of her hair in other videos. I show about that much when I wear hijab as well. It's the intent not perfection that is counted in our religion.

Is it insulting for someone to wear a hijab the ways you teach if it's not in your culture or tradition? Because I think it's a cute go-to style waking up late for class or something and there's women on my campus that wear them and I don't want to offend anybody.

+zaynbitch Actually as muslim women we believe that the Hijab is a right to all women, not just those who follow islam. The hijab is a symbol of modesty and so long as you are wearing it with that intention, we would never have a problem with it, if anything it would be nice to see more people embrace the hijab.

+zaynbitch no I don't speak for all Muslim women, neither of us do, but the hijab isn't exclusive to Muslim women. In fact it was historically common for all woman to wear hijab, whether they were Christian, Jewish or Muslim. The hijab is seen within African Culture. I understand what you're saying, but I don't think it applies to the hijab. Covering your hair to be modest is a matter of principle not just culture or religion. Part of the reason why we wear hijab is because it is meant to liberate a woman from the pressure from society to be sexy or sexually desirable. Why would we restrict the opportunity of liberation to only the women of Islam, or Judaism? Islamic believe isn't exclusive. With all due respect, you're argument is excellent, but it's not fitting to this topic.

I think she said she is Somali. She is exquisite! I am not hijabi because they give me a headache and I am not prepared to live like that. I would rather my relationship with Allah be known only to me and Him inshallah. I do like the look of the turban, though. I have some long hijabs and i might try it. I am afraid the sisters will judge me if I show my neck. They are a very judgmental bunch near me unfortunately.
