Turbo 302 gets Holley Smart Coils!

I filmed this video last year, when I was installing them on my car, and I finally got around to uploading it finally! Anyway, I'm excited to get these smart coils on my car because it really ties my build all together! The Holley smart coils were relatively an easy install, and mounting them to the firewall ended up being a really good fit!
Here are some coil benefits:
1. Increased Ignition Energy: Smart coils, such as those offered by Holley, provide a higher energy output compared to stock or traditional ignition coils. This increased energy allows for a stronger and more reliable spark, especially under high-boost conditions in a turbocharged engine. Improved ignition energy helps to ensure complete combustion of the air-fuel mixture, resulting in better engine performance and power output.
2. Faster Coil Charging: Smart coils typically have faster coil charging times compared to conventional coils. This means that the coil can charge and discharge more rapidly, resulting in quicker and more precise spark timing. In a turbocharged application where precise ignition timing is crucial, faster coil charging can help prevent misfires and ensure optimal engine performance.
Multiple Spark Capability: Some Holley smart coils feature multiple spark capability. This means that they can deliver multiple sparks per ignition event, enhancing the ignition process. Multiple sparks can improve combustion efficiency and power production, particularly at high RPMs where the time available for complete combustion is limited.
3. Durability and Reliability: Smart coils are designed to be more durable and reliable than stock coils, especially when subjected to high-temperature and high-boost conditions. They are often built with advanced materials and technology to withstand the demanding environment of a performance engine. This durability ensures consistent spark delivery, reducing the likelihood of misfires and improving overall engine reliability.
4. Compatibility with Engine Management Systems: Holley smart coils are typically designed to work seamlessly with aftermarket engine management systems. These coils may have integrated features that allow for easy integration with the engine control unit (ECU) and provide accurate ignition control. I have the same setup but cant close my hood, stock K MEMBER. Can I ask what K member and motor mounts you're using??

I have a hood with a 4 in cowl , jegs motor mounts , idk on the k member it doesn’t say

Did you end up going with the Holley Cam Sync and crank trigger, eliminating the distributor?

Essentially yes, the cam sync takes it place and you need separate coils for the plugs which are mounted on my firewall!

are you running a dual sync distributor with the blank distributor cap? and are you running an ignition box any? Trying to figure out this system for my car also

Yes! I think if it’s in this video if not then it’s in another and I don’t have an ignition box.

What’s a PDM?

@@LalaFox92 power distribution module. It’s solid state and it allows you to get rid of your fuses and relays. As we progressed with our car we started coming across electrical issues and trying to trace them down at the track. It uses can bus and also minimize the amount of wiring you’ll need. Another acronym for it is PMU.
