HOW DO ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLLERS WORK? HOW DO THEY ADD BOOST AND POWER? HOW DOES A WASTEGATE CONTROLLER WORK? HOW DO I STOP BLEEDING OFF BOOST? HOW DO I GET MY BOOST CURVE TO BE FLAT AND CONSISTENT? HOW DO I MAKE MORE BOOST? DOES A BOOST CONTROLLER WORK WELL AT DIFFERENT BOOST LEVELS? THESE QUESTUONS AND MORE ARE ANSWERED IN THIS VIDEO WHERE I RAN A TURBOCHARGED ATLAS 4200 (OTHER GUYS) INLINE 6 CYLINDER MOTOR BOTH WITH AND WITHOUT OUR TC-1 ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLLER. Great video Richard. I chose to use a manual boost controller in my FWD turbo application due to the progressive nature of how the boost comes on for 2 reasons, to aid Traction and to try and avoid broken gearboxes, ( happened a couple of times now). Its fantastic to see the different boost curves overlaid. Thanks for sharing your knowledge once again.

The funny thing is there's been a meme about "put heat in your motor"...and here Richard proves it's actually true for the turbo.

Richard - in case no one answered your question about the OEM stock exhaust manifold it is 4.5 mm cast iron with a trilaminated heat shield as per SAE Transactions, Vol. 110, Section 3: JOURNAL OF ENGINES (2001), pp. 289-309 (21 pages)

when I was buying parts for my build I found boost controllers was a murky place, i think I must have watch 500 vlogs and not all are created equal I ended up getting more confused about them I ended up buying a Turbosmart eboost 2, it was the one that had so many good reviews and being Australian that was factor in it I still have no idea how to set it up yet, I can build a killa N/A engine but the Turbo world until now I had no idea about.... still don't yet, I watch a lot of Richards videos and have learnt a lot from him and the dyno doesn't lie

A 4 port solenoid test would be great to show how many multiples of the WG spring you can pump in. I've heard 5 or 6x. 5 pound spring for pump gas on the spring and 30 pounds for Saturday night e85 Mexico driving.

The Atlas 4200 is one of the nicest engines I've ever owned. Smooth as silk, good torque & HP, just keep the oil clean. The VVT valve gets clogged from dirty oil it will starve the crank. That's about the only thing that will hurt this engine. A whole generation of idiots are too stupid to get an oil change. Chevy had a 405 HP version set for the Trailblazer SS, did not use it because of crash test results, the motor being a bit too long.

It would be nice to see what Turbosmart's new electronic waste gate would do in a comparison test, especially on an engine with independednt variable cam timing.

If possible, a comparison between an electronically controlled wasted gate and electronic boost controller with a "traditional" wg. It would be cool to see if they are worth the money.

I found that boost isn't consistent without a boost controller. On my rear mount setup, boost was falling from 6-7 psi down to around 5 psi. By adding and EBC, boost came in quicker an stayed where it was commanded.
