Looks nice. I see how you added the extra O2 sensor up front. Do you get any clutch slippage with the extra Hp? Perhaps with a barnet clutch no need to worry.
@ezracing9009 жыл бұрын
Kevin Norman It's actually an EGT thermocouple in the front header pipe. I have gone through many clutch setups trying to get things to hold. I am currently using a Barnett Scorpion clutch with CF plates and 540lbs of spring. It has held the most but still slips under full boost. I have 600lbs of spring but the lever pull is just too difficult for the street. Yes, hydraulic was considered but I'm holding off until I finish my new design for the clutch setup. Should give me easy lever pull and huge holding capacity.

I love your bike, I've got a 2009 xb12s myself. I want to turbo mine as well, how far can you push the stock fuel system? Also, how long till the internals failed when you first started? I'd like to just do a basic turbo on mine and only drop in low comp pistons. Hopefully be able to get to 150hp and 120tq like the original Diablo.
@ezracing9007 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Stock fuel system can support ~110whp. There are several ways to give the fuel system additional hp capacity which your engine management strategy should define. My stock 2005 bottom end handled ~187whp/149ft-lbs without failure, but I can't say how long it would have lasted. The failure was due to operator error. Your 2009 has a better crankshaft & rods too. Forged pistons are a great idea, but no need to drop compression. I just built a turbo XB12 with 150whp/137ft-lbs with 9.6:1 CR + 13psi boost using the same crank&rods you have + off the shelf forged pistons. Tuning and proper design are the most important factors! Cometic MLS head gaskets are necessary too.
@Corpse19847 жыл бұрын
ezracing900 , thanks for the reply, that's very helpful. You are definitely the best resource for turbo xb's. It's hard to find go information on these bikes anymore.
@evilokc3 жыл бұрын
do you still own this bike? how many miles did you put on the bike after the turbo? what boost level did you run it at? are you using a t-25 turbo?
@ezracing9003 жыл бұрын
I sold it a few years ago. After building the 1st turbo setup for it in 2006, I put over 25k miles on it over 13 years. During those 13 years, I upgraded/changed the setup several times. initially, the setup ran ~12 psi of boost, but the final and most recent/powerful build ran 22psi. Each of the build phases used the same Garrett GT2252 turbo with a few different turbine housings/wategate setups and some minor compressor cover modifications.
@ryanwolfe228011 жыл бұрын
Didn't you have the turbo on the top left of the engine originally? And how is your engine management set up? Is it ECM controlled or just a bunch of piggyback stuff?
@ezracing90011 жыл бұрын
I sure did. I mounted the turbo below the motor around 2008 and it keeps evolving. I have modified the factory ECM to adjust fueling based on manifold pressure and use an electronic boost controller. There are no piggyback systems on the bike. I am currently working on reprogramming a newer DDFI-3 ECM to work with the cam position sensor. Once I have that working, I will have much better control over fueling and ignition timing, not that it is bad now. It currently runs great with the modified DDFI-2 ECM but the newer DDFI-3 ECM will offer some major refinements.

I haven't painted them. I have just kept them very clean. Even I am surprised with how glossy they have stayed. I have seen many other well cared for XBs with black plastics that are not nearly as glossy.
@ashleyDRT10 жыл бұрын
Cheers, mine have stayed reasonably good although I don't think that come anywhere near your standard. I hit them with some cutting compound and it took scratches out of the rear seat cover. Didn't want to get stuck into them too hard in case it actually took the gloss away.

They are a pair of Gloworm X2 LED lights. Not DOT approved but fit well within the fairing openings and throw a lot of light. They require additional electronics to drop the bike voltage to ~7.2V as well.

Fukr looks mean. I have a xb9s and a vrod with a scratch built turbo. what is this running for boost and fuel system. im at 9psi on stock injectors.
@ezracing9007 жыл бұрын
This is my old system. Fuel system was 80 lb/hr injectors with Walbro 255 lph fuel pump and Turbosmart FPR. New fuel system will be 2x 60 lb/hr primary injectors + 2x 80 lb/hr secondary injectors + ECM controlled PWM fuel pressure regulation + Racetronix turbine fuel pump. Old system ran ~22psi of boost and new will be about the same but lots of other changes/improvements.
@fvgc454ss7 жыл бұрын
ezracing900 Thank you very much fpr the reply! i actually live near East troy WI where buell is. My v rod uses stock fuel pump and injectors. tapped a reference hole to the backside of the FPR and ran a line to the compressor side of the turbo. injectors are maxed out but keeps up with the 9psi. garrett T3 of a 89 saab rebuilt by Precision 36 rear ar turbine housing 60trim front of svo 4cyl mustamg t3 turbo. kind of. a frankenstein but it works great. Stock engine is 11.3 compression so 9psi is about as high as i can run without less compression n its fast enough. I am very interested in turboing my new XB12scg. be great to here your take on what turbo , wastegate, ect to run with a certaim goal in mind. New bike is an 09 xb12scg.
