Just to add something that might be news to some players here, the infect creatures got errata'd to have creature type - Phyrexian, so Plague Engineer is actually really good against them now!

Note that Lost Mines of Phandelver final room drawing a card means it’s not an infinite combo. You’re limited by the number of cards in your library unless you do something like waste a SB slot on a card like Laboratory Maniac.

The "Draw a card" goes on the stack and you may choose the order of the triggers you control so you can resolve the Acererak first so it comes back to your hand and you play it again with flash while the "Draw a card" is still on the stack

Chris Perkins at WoTC confirmed a few years ago that it's ah-SAIR-ak. Dunno where that second R went, but it's canonically silent

at 15:30, the opponent could have played some 4d chess with you by keeping doomsday in hand knowing you wouldn't name it, especially since they were already doing mind games with the daze instead of brainstorm (or maybe it was a misplay idk).

haha could have! there's a real chance though that opponent names doomsday anyway as a counter mind game or more likely due to lack of other good options. risks losing immediately instead of handily winning next turn. definitely a nice play for those who like to live on the edge though :D I wouldn't necessarily give them credit for not misplaying, especially in hindsight seeing how they pitched away their ponder for no value

You lucked out of the mistake but I think the play against D&T was to rec sage, destroying the spirit of the labyrinth (as its an enchantment creature) and blocking the skyclave giving you a 4/4.

For side boarding versus reanimator wouldn't it open up more opportunities to grab the karakas with living wish since that takes up 3 slots instead of 1? A turn three consistent Karakas I feel might be more relevant than a turn 1 one with luck even with opening yourself up to more disruption.

I love aluren, but I just can't get behind acererak over recruiter. Agreed with the recommended changes to the deck. Needs more abrupt decay/discard. I would also be tempted to play shardless in the list, but would need to test it.

Not playing a single Cavern Harpy for a digger / protection seems wrong. It works well with both the Uro's and Ice-Fang's, but maybe its not needed as much with the living wish package.

only works when comboing or when you have uro or snake and two extra mana. other cards pull their weight alone too. don't think it's worth the slot anymore despite how cool and sweet it is

Why not play Leovold vs the doomsday, since they couldn’t counter it and they had 0 cards in hand, meaning it’s likely they left a draw spell on top? I feel it would’ve given you some time to maybe draw into counterspells
