TURBO OUTRUN (MEGADRIVE - FULL GAME)

I remember this game and I choose the manual transmission because of the sharp turns, once I reach Chicago I choose the Hi-Grip Tires, when I reach Miami I choose the Special Turbo and the Oklahoma city, I keep the Hi-Power Engine to last because it will increase the speed of the care. Furthermore before I reach the checkpoint in every stage I use the Turbo boost so the police car can't get in my way

This would've been ten times better if it weren't done by a certain developer whose name I will not mention. Sega should've given it to Hertz (Out Run) or SIMS (Out Run 2019).

not bad! backgrounds a bit bland and empty in places but frame rate is alright for its time

Yeah dunno what went a bit down here compared to the original Outrun conversion, I guess different programmers.

+Zeusdaz - The Unemulated Retro Game Channel It may also be the fact that the original Outrun port was on a 8meg cart, while Turbo Outrun only is on a 4mbit cart for whatever reason.

The 1st OutRun was ported by 2 japanese companies: Hertz + T's Music doing sound, while Turbo OutRun was ported by no less than... Tiertex ;S (& with this into consideration, well, it's not too bad actually, but for sure the 1st one received a better treatment).

ZEUSDAZ - THE UNEMULATED RETRO GAME CHANNEL Because it sounds spot on, a model 2 or 3 has a crunchy, honestly pretty bad sound. Either way, I think the music in this version isn't nearly as good as it could have been, especially considering how outstanding OutRun on the Mega Drive sounded. Funny thing is, I'll assume you're European because here in the US, we never got Turbo Outrun.

I don't need to because it's one of my favorite games. It's just a shame that it's 30 FPS and not 60 like the arcade.

Plus KZbin frame rate doesn't help the smoothness of the uploads, I think mine come across a bit better when uploaded as using the real hardware whereas emulation can cause more issues. Thans for watching and commenting :-)

What's ironic is that the Sega 16-Bit version of Turbo OutRun was developed by the shoddy company called Tiertex (Yes, the same company that developed the crappy computer ports of Street Fighter 1)... (Yes, I refer the Genesis/MegaDrive as Sega 16-Bit to avoid confusion)

Shockingly rough for the Mega Drive. "Crazy Cars III" is way smoother and better, as far as "Italian racing cars with police and jet turbos"-games are concerned.

I remember being shocked at how good CCIII was and how well it moved, usually Titus brought out ok looking games but played like dogs.

This game got a pasting in all the computer games magazines at the time and so I hired it for 2 nights and wished I hadn't. It's easy to see why this got terrible reviews across the board. This game was fucking dreadful and far worse than the Outrun port by Hertz. I only played it for 20 or so mins back in the day and put it back in its box until I returned it 2 days later. That was the first time I ever did that and I loved driving games as a kid. Ben Owen in the comments below is correct - the graphics are shocking, the collision detection non-existent and an abominable frame rate worse despite the fact that there are hardly any cars and few if any trackside objects. If that's not bad enough, the sound was abysmal and it played even worse. Horrendous port.
