Two things that you said about turbo cars are mostly true: 1) Torque is increased significantly and 2) People who need to commute short distance under 10 kms should buy NA as Torque converter Engine needs time to get going. However, turbo should be bought for highway usage and NA for city usage is not 100% true. While NA will give better mileage compared to a turbo in city, it depends on many other factors. My 1.0 Volkswagen gives similar or higher mileage than Honda City 1.5 in Delhi NCR though peak power delivery is very similar in both cars. A smaller turbo engine is equivalent to a 30%-50% bigger NA engine.

See i somehow agree with your POV. am myself using Tiago which has NA petrol manual transmission & i do 85% highway sprints of over 1000 kms at a go. The linear power delivery of Na is just excellent, no turbos can beat that. Also while climbing hills NA engines have more tractability than turbos. I hardly drive in the city, but what i felt over the years is that, turbo lag is an issue for pure motorists. Nowadays though engines are very very refined & that turbo lag is getting reduced to much lower rpms. But still it remains.
@DriveShrive3 ай бұрын
I have both turbo and NA at home that's why I know the difference and the pure motorists i meet love turbo engine more as it has the kickback, mine pins the driver into the seat after 2000rpm and enthusiastic drivers dont mind keeping them above 2000rpm as well. It is irritating for normal drivers
@anirudhyachakraborty76803 ай бұрын
@@DriveShrive agreed. But many people love linear torque delivery. Sudden surge of power after say 1500-2000 rpm might not be suitable for a lot of masses. Also additionally turbos might have the pulling power & sudden surge of torque blast but abnormality in delivery of that creates nuisances in many occasions. If you ever have the chances to visit the hills of NE India, you will understand what am trying to point out once you drive in this terrains which are our regular hussle. Thanks Man.

@4834cint3 ай бұрын
@DriveShrive it needs nearly double the maintainance bro.diesel engines operate at a very high temprature compared to petrol so wear and tear of parts is much more. Also petrol engines are simple in construction compared to diesels . The topic of your discussion is turbo vs NA, mostly turbo petrols are 3 cylinder engines and their nvh are higher compared to NA .also technically as the number of cylinders increase your smoothness increases and vice versa.so all sports cars are 6 cylinder they don't use turbo technologies.

@@4834cint actually topic here is turbo petrol or NA, which petrol engine to choose. Using nexon xz petrol since 2022, total running 34k kms. If your running is high on highways or city with moderate traffic (minimum 40kmph range), you will definitely enjoy turbo engine. In practical life there is no need 0 to 100kmph but 50kmph to 140kmph is required. NA engine response is good till 80kmph, after thats its is not good for overtaking. For bumper to bumper traffic, NA is good option, otherwise no problem with turbo petrol. We have nexon and xuv300 that can 100kmph at 1900rpm while brezza and other cars with NA engine crosses 3000rpm for 100kmph.

Great video. We currently have the Ford TDCI and Mahindra TGDI of the 3XO. Both turbos and both are fun. But with the 3XO 95 octane is a must. From the reliability perspective hoping for the long stroke and narrow bore to make it last long. Ford TDCI handles everything I throw at it. And all turbo engines diesel or petrol need frequent highway runs and is sensitive to throttle inputs. If one loves driving and doesn’t mind taking the car out long, can opt for the turbo.
@skimranrashid72332 ай бұрын
I feel turbo engines are more appropriate for mature drivers because they have better idea of correct gears and turbo engines loves to fly if it is in appropriate gear. I have seen whenever my friends drive my Polo turbo diesel they struggle with long clutch n correct gear position. On the other hand they drive smooth on Honda’s NA engine.

All these claims will be busted if you have experienced one car 1) It was 1.0 lit turbo petrol, 125 HP /170 NM torque , if compared with its NA sibling 1.5 lit NA Petrol, it was 125 HP/150 NM Torque 2) Now Second Part , when we talk about Turbo cars people talk much about Turbo lag, but for this 1.0 little beast it was not an issue, for famous Skoda and VW 1.0 turbo variant Turbo kick in is at 1700+rpm , but for this it was 1450+, so in cities as well it never give you that lag feeling 3) when you compare turbo engine, you need not compare with its same capacity NA, as I said in 1st comment, 1.0 turbo performance is equivalent to 1.5 lit NA variant, accordingly mileage figure differs drastically 4) the car I am talking about, has mileage of 12.5 kmpl in city like Hyderabad. On highway it goes up to 18-19, depending on your style of driving 5) The car I am talking about, has Engine of the year award for straight 6 years, yes consecutive 6 times. Now most car enthusiast might have guessed which car I am talking about. YES IT IS FORD ECOSPORT ECOBOOST!! India don't deserve such pretty cars I have its 2019 , titanium S model, which came with 6 speed gearbox, which was earlier 5 speed gearbox, in 2018 Ford did modification to its Ecoboost Variant. Baap of all compact SUV's Those performance figures are better than Skoda and VW 1.0 variant. Surprisingly this Ford engine was developed in UK and Manufactured in Germany!! So it was a special car!! Fortunate to have one!!! Indian buys cars only on features!! Can you guess in 2019 what featured this variant offered?? - Hill Assist - Traction Control - Cruse Control - TPMS -India's fav Sunroof (Ford called it Funroof) which is not an existing feature for me, not opend more than 3-4 times since I own this car - Reverse Parking Assist - 6 Airbags - 17 inch Alloy wheels, even spare wheel which was mounted on back door came with same size as of regular, and that too with same Alloy wheel - 3 year AMC at 12k, no single Rs need for annual maintainence (yes even after it is over, you can extend the same pkg again) No cost cutting at all!!! Again I will repeat!! India don't deserve Ford cars!!

I see comments of people regarding diesel per video bnao, I will tell you in present phase of 2024 and even going forward as well, diesel cars are only for travellers and in passenger logistics use only, because private vehicle are next to unmaintanable due to DPF filter and urea in BS6 phase2 , so if you need diesel punch the option is petrol turbo only and people with one NA engine car won’t choose next car as NA engine and that will be surely turbo.

Yes, diesel is going to go in small cars upto 20lkhs especially!

Which is better to buy under 12L for family ? 50% city, 50% roads and long trips. Consider daily 50km. I like car should be with less maintenances cost , good mileage and spacious.

Maine Nexon Creative + li hai I needed a car for highway driving Went to buy Punch but wife ko Nexon pasand aagayi Now I think I made better decision to go with Nexon Highway crusing is awsome in Turbo vehicles (By the way 99% diesel cars are turbo diesel cars just that nobody calls them turbo diesel)

Sir, do make a video on the best ride quality in each segment like you did for "Best handling car" . By ride quality i mean, most comfortable suspension for bad city road. Also most effort less + comfortable cars to drive in city traffic/daily office commute, but this i mean least tiring like between ev, automatic, which automatic, bigger engine or smaller engine, turbo or NA. Which combination makes the most effortless car to drive. In short, the best daily commuter car in each segment. Thanks in advance.

What about cars like the i20 n line and xuv 300 tgdi engines as opposed to normal turbo they get heated fast and may need to take more breaks right ?
@DriveShrive24 күн бұрын
@@kristrails07 run them as long as you want, they won't overheat but those engines need more care and especially idle for 1 whole minute
