@@DavidSenna57 in Indian roads though they seem one of the fastest things on road
@dr.deadkiller92047 ай бұрын
@@aniketsengupta7394 i am from india and i can confirm this is true. most of our inline 4 cars arent even able to go over 150 kmph. while a 650 can cross 165 kmph it seems like a big deal to us. and not to forget, indian roads are very short with stupid people crossing without even looking. just the other day i was riding on my car and a woman just came into my lane while i had to break because i was literally right next to her, it was like she wanted to crash, she wasnt even loking in the mirror. this is just one example, this happens everyday millions of times. theres no rule for jay walking, no rule for lanes, no rules on how to change lanes on a bike and which lane to use for specific purposes. so yeah, anything above 120 kmph is useless in india, even in Chandigarh (where i live) even on highways people merge lanes without looking, create road blocks while riding at 70kmph. i wish i could change countries.

@@dr.deadkiller9204 I stay in bangalore, and there's heavy traffic almost all the time, even my sp125 gives average lower than expected because there's lot of idling, which I try to minimize by turning off the engine, chandigarh is comparatively empty but empty roads with careless driving is also disastrous especially for people on motorcycles since cars are comparatively safer.

Have you ever turbo-ed a sub 400cc bike? if no, then why not? is it not worth the effort? or something else like can't find turbos, etc.? I was thinking about doing something with the 220cc single cylinder of a bike from the scrapyard, i was thinking about mounting to my mountain bicycle, making like a crude dirtbike, that engine makes about 20hp and 20nm of torque, idk if that would be too much, i have a lot of engine options tho, and the fact everyone of them costs the same (less than 50$ 💀)
@DoctorMotorcycle8 ай бұрын
I'm not opposed to small engine turbocharging, but there's no money in it so it probably won't ever happen on the channel. Trying to get away from the smaller/cheaper end bikes as you end up in a place where nobody wants to pay to have work done. Even on bigger bikes, if it's older and Carb'd, the likelihood that someone is going to pay to have one built is pretty slim, and of the people that do, the budget for parts and labor is so small that you're always dealing with issues that result from building an old bike with cheap parts.

It's a blank canvas to be turned into whatever you like. It's obviously not going to be very fast, but 60-65ft/lbs at the wheel and 80-90whp is a fun little ripper, especially with the 270* crank and turbo noises.
@kevinlewis91518 ай бұрын
@@DoctorMotorcycle I guess if that's what you like, I have been looking for someone working on a 1983 Honda CX 650 turbo, I'm actually interested in comparing how Honda did it compared to how you turbo charge your bikes, I'm also considering a mechanical draw through turbo set up on a 79 CB750 project. If I can find some small enough turbos to fit under the seat and between the head and the existing carbs. I'm guessing after I get into it, it's going to be a lot easier but more expensive to go the route you usually go with yours.
@DoctorMotorcycle8 ай бұрын
@@kevinlewis9151 The CX's were blow through fuel injection. The only 80's turbo bike that was blow through carb was the XJ650 turbo. To my knowledge, there was never a factory turbo four that was draw-thru. Obviously there was the turbo Z1R-TC but that was done by Mr. Turbo. Draw-thru 4 bangers are very difficult to get to run right, just a heads up. I'd use either a GT12 or GT15 on a CB750 w/draw-thru. I usually size turbo's smaller w/draw-thru as they end up pretty laggy when they're 4 feet away from the cylinder head. Make sure the plenum volume is at least 600cc. 4 Cylinders are the least picky about this as they only have 1 cylinder firing at a time, and that cylinder is usually pretty small, so you can get away with much less than twins and singles especially. If you have too much plenum volume it just makes the bike too cold blooded and you have to add a ton of fuel which wrecks the fuel economy.
@kevinlewis91518 ай бұрын
@@DoctorMotorcycle after doing the slightest more research and realizing that the crank case is cast aluminum, I decided I'm definitely not suicidal enough to try and detonate anything that old. The most I would consider is a little 25 shot of nos they are snappy and powerful enough for what they are. Considering your containing a gasoline explosion in cast aluminum, I'm betting you can probably cause some major breakage just getting the carb mixture to rich.
