John, your documentation, organization, and ability to bring people together on a project is impressive. Improve them out the back door numbers lessa go! I like the get some track numbers before the gear change...especially since the whole rpm/sec tune is on the ratios in the car...hub dynos are something! Thanks again for another great video!

Awesome to have tha TkM tune on that badazz, beautiful car!! I love this car I love that it's actually Ford powered, can't wait to see what it's gonna accomplish!
@kerryhickman22352 жыл бұрын
I was pretty close, I thought the overall hp was going to be 2570. Now all you have to do is get the chassis tuned so you can get all that hp to work for you. Life of a racer, always having to adjust or fix something because what works today at this track/street more than likely won't work at the next one. All of the detailed note taking to keep up with what works what doesn't depending on weather, track conditions & what adjustments are made. Most people have no idea what racers actually go through to go fast. The majority think it's just jumping in a car & making a pass, that it's just all fun & games. I have a ton of respect for what y'all actually do week in, week out. Thanks for all the hard work!!

Like seeing it all John, you were very close on Randy's tune, adding a little fuel and timing indiv. Cylinders made it flat come alive more is all. And your 200HP increase educated guess, was right on plus a bit. Are you interested in making a return visit to Vegas again sir, if I get a Holley system for my Stocker to get it a base start to get it fairly close for me? Half the holes, twice the fun (1,320 passes, albeit nowhere near his HP, by any means or stretch of the imagination), plugs are very easy to pull. And the top half is painted the same color as Randy's 🚗. It would be a track rental day, and 6 re-lic. passes plus (so not as bad as an event day the last time you were in town, no waiting to get track time), and that should seat the rings well under power/load on the new rotators and the rebuild/improvements, ready to tinker and get it right. And ready to see if the -275 lb. diet helps it exceed the new mph record set by another in the class June 3rd, 2022. It used to run 3 mph above it he set before at 275 lbs heavier, and not yet machined or freshened. I do not want to exceed the E.T. record he set though, as not putting that weight back on the car, I would rather take more weight off (easy to do, lots more places pre-known to do so), and step back up to original class of DF/S instead and run faster, if at all close to what he set E.T. wise. (I can reset the MPH, no penalty, but reset the E.T. and a wt/HP penalty gets levied). After all, you, the SRC crew, Matt, and Justin & Jackie are the reasons I am even back at it now, after 25 years away from the game and finishing the long ago started dream continuation. So, it would certainly be a fitting act if you tuned the base setup my brother. Naturally aspirated, no boosted HP, is EFI, but only 1 of those injectors and TBI, and some chassis tuning magic is also necessary. The Custom ground special Reed (originally from GA), cam now in the head, the only 2 times it was installed and run (in an AF/S truck in 2003, it set the National MPH record on pass 1, then the following event on passes 7 & 8, it set both ends of the Nat'l Record, then he took it out and put it in the box,, and held the record for 3 yrs.). I was lucky enough to buy it recently, and it is now measured up legal (in my combo), on exhaust lift by .001, and intake lift by .015 (from my max. allowable lift of .445/.445 (@.444 E/.432, 106 CL, set 7 degrees adv.)...lotsa overlap, and duration (a very strange lobe profile, as it overlaps to allow the exhaust to begin pulling in the new A/F charge(s), then that exhaust snaps shut fast once it does), and is installed for the re-debut of the almost completed rebuild, with many improves on the redone shortblock (compared to when it last was raced in Feb. of 1997 at Phoenix, AZ at the Atsco Nats. -Class Finalist in GF/SA @2,763 w/ nearly 93K miles on the car- Am now going to run in EF/S @ 2,475 (its 1st. Comp. Valve job, blueprinted, balanced, bored, honed, new Ross Forgings, rings, cam, bearings, line honed, etc.), and a couple of deletes from no longer robbing HP from the crank (no longer P.S., and elect. W.P. installed now). Plus small fuel cell w/bulkhead in hatch spare tire well, a full tank system delete, a full HVAC, and wiper system deletes, along with street exhaust delete, and an updated but adjustable EFI fuel system, that will supply whatever pressure and volumes we need to throw at it, or reduce to (adj. F.P. regulator in the throttle body determines the release of pressure and flow seen at injector inlet, flowing balance returned to the cell. Also picked up a new toy too, a dual advance hybrid distro., that has mechanical, and vacuum advance avail. Pod, so 3 ways to adv. timing now, (mechanical only, or vacuum only, or both, or remove springs and lock out the mechanical). Or throw my stock distro. back in and no adv. (Just set a static) And distro acts only as a crank/cam synch as it has currently the stock ECU and PM, and a 1983 Omni electr. Spark module controlling spark delivery. Was recently told a Holley System is coming soon though to install on it. And would repl. the existing Code Locked 1984 Daytona ECU/PM by the EPA (only model year codes were never released fully, but recently reviewed the 1985 turbo model codes,, and tables can be read & changed slightly with a legacy cable and the underhood diagnostic port connection.. It will be really nice to play nice with an EFI system with actual laptop play nice data changes instead of tricking an unchangeable, and unreadable ECU and underhood PM. (Lotsa workarounds were possible, but that defeated the purpose of having EFI capabillities). Just what was necessary to do at the time due to the EPA required unreleased code. Having that history in the past, and knowing what was possible, leads to knowing how much more is possible. Smarter and wiser now that 25 yrs. has passed, since the last attempts at making it work, and technology today is leaps and bounds ahead of the mid 80's and 90's. Are you interested in the challenges posed?

That is what I wanted to hear, will contact you when that newly improved bullet arrives back in my hands, as soon as the pistons finally arrive,cI will be involved in the balancing and eassembly work, the pcs are all waiting to become a long block again, so 24 hrs after it arrives home I should have fire back in the hole, and we shall see when the Holley system arrives, have 2 harnesses to put together, mine and a friend's that is securing the 2 systems/kits. Mine is a TBI, his a Turbo, same year, 2 different classes AF/S on the turbo, and EF/S on mine...beast no, beast for the class, it better be, as I have worked hard enough and spent enough on it this project go around to make it so.

Yup, I loved that smile on Randy's face, and TJ was smiling also, no wounding, no hard work, just minor cylinder timing and fuel adjustments and nice hard pulls on a hub dyno, to tweak a lil' more and fine tune a great base tune up.
