Goodyear traction torques were very poor tires right from new. My father ran a tire shop for 39 years and I remember as a kid that they would crack within months of being manufactured, before even being mounted. tThey were smaller than most. Later the traction torque ( 2nd line) and power torque ( 1st line) were replaced by the dynatorque, and dyna torque 2. those tires were taller than every other tire out there. Generals were also a larger tire than average. Bfg, not build since about 1983 were almost identical in height to the firestone all traction field and road. They were the best bias tire ever built. they were made with rayon, and I still see tractors using them 40 years later

Excellent video JT :) also want have funny Lol on tire change my dad , his brother never change tire on 1950 Cockshutt 40 tractors back drive wheels there were Farm Hand type also were crack also peeling tread of like shingles on buildings for all years was on farm still hold air plus Calcium Fluoride in too and shock me ! When my dad put on combine and other tractors of International ones my uncle said was never updated Cockshutt 40 ever ! Shocking in 1993 when sold Cockshutt 40 for guy want project fix up another Tractor he said rims like brand to amazing me ! Also all Cockshutt wheels change for new rubber plus inner tubes too including ! Did ever use on Tire drives one brand Good Year called Dyna Torque 2 on tractors and combine ! Tell JT you enjoy and they do super job if ever get them also last lifetime! Not sure make anymore Good Year Dyna Torque 2 but if need check your tire shop! Also worth it to buy !

In the tropics there's another medium-sized bird the locals call chachallca they also make their nests on the ground I can remember a family I stayed with while I was wandering around the area for about 20 or more yrs they collected the eggs of those birds and hatched them with chickens eggs good eating birds too

The old ones were so dry and hard and the new ones so incredibly stiff I did 1 a day !! I told myself a few times why would I save myself a few bucks? But I got it done just like you man ! Admire your tenacity with that tire. Feeling of satisfaction to succeed I bet. I use the outrigger stabilizers on my Massey backhoe to break beads when they are tough to break, works great. Thx for the vid

Nice one j.t. I cheat a bit on the wheels . I drilled 2 holes in my loader bucket and put scaffold bar through it helps so much for moving those wheels. It came off pretty well. So when you used the saw I found that a vice grip the smaller 6 inch works. Using an impact on my bead breaker shaved metal off the threads so I use a ratchet. When I break the bead with the bead breaker and have to move the bead breaker to break the bead in a different spot. I tap a small wood block between the rim and the tire before moving the bead breaker. You are getting much faster.

Thanks for the video, yep tires are fun I do all our farm tires here on our yard including fluid filled, but highway stuff goes to town where i buy the tires from. Several guys I fix tractors for figured it out I can do my own tires. But I've told them I'm not a tire shop and don't ask to fix theirs on a Sunday or holiday when their usual tire shops closed, it's not worth the hassle at any price to do other peoples ! Those tires being a different height is not uncommon even with 2 tires made by firestone that are 16.9 x 30 a field and road is not the same as a traction field and road for instance, then you throw in 2 totally different tire makes and it gets even more of a problem. Take care.

We did the two rear tires on my 5088. I thought save some money. One we got right the other I pinched the tube off to the fire shop it went!! $350 each for a tube I had to buy three of them the fire shop would not patch a new tube. So lesson learned haul them in. Use some pam cooking spray or soapy water to make the tires slide over the bead a lot easier. I have a bunch of used fryer oil that i put in a ketchup bottle that i just spray down into the bead before removing the tire. Makes life easier on removal lol

3:52 We have a 656 Farmall. 18.4-34 Firestone Bias (sat II?) that replaced the Traction Field & Road. replaced in stages, about 1 year apart. one tire is bigger than the other! i think they made the internal structure differently, one has rounded tread and the other is flat across the top. I don't think there's much regulation on off road tires. My back hurts watching you work! Maybe you should have drove on top of a railroad tie and r&r the tire on tractor, cutting the old one off without all the wrestling at first? thanks for sharing your misadventures :)

1 word of wisdom always inflate the inner tube on the floor first to make sure the inflator is on the top before putting in otherwise if your not careful it will disappear into the tyre and you wont be able to do much about it

Most view this as entertainment, but when you're poor the labor is nothing... Many full-time farmers, when I was a kid , would be fortunate to remove a used tire off of an old tractor outback then remove and replace the flat one. They never complained. you did the best you could.
