By far one of the best real KZbin channels, actually shows what it takes to make it as a small farmer. Keep it up! My dad and I are always tinkering keeping our hay equipment running to avoid payments!

Wow, thanks! I appreciate that!

I bet your dad was probably still from the 'hay wire, electrical tape and pliers' repair kit to get you through to the end of the day. All of the computer crap today just makes me ill.

Love those old Internationals, good decision to keep the old carb. Those engines were put in everything from school buses, grain trucks, fuel trucks, and combines. They are "bulletproof", most have had the piss run out of them and keep on plugging, I've had a couple over the years. One had been a county truck, then a water truck for a Co-op, a grain truck for a farmer which I bought from at a farm sale for 400. and then mine. I used it for hauling a little gravel, hauling stuff around the farm, and going to breakfast occasionally, a friend used it when he stripped his roof off. The engine was rebuilt when the co-op had it. It is now sitting in a farm shed as a backup grain truck, I sold it for 1500. One thing I noticed, the engine never stayed clean, it was cold-blooded. Oh, and I had to weld the manifold also, those were notorious for cracking. Hope you have as good of results as I did.
@Porkchop6524 күн бұрын
We had old grain truck just like sully we used as a roofing truck and I had to weld the manifold on it & my weld held for the 5yrs I worked for that guy

Those old binders are tough as nails. That is a electric shift two speed. If you have power to the motor when you flip the switch to high or low , it's probably a stuck motor or corroded contacts on the limit switch which is inside the box the motor sits on. It stops the motor in each direction. The only problem with that truck, and you will learn to work around it is it's a Tag axle and will get stuck easily. You'll really apreciate Gus for his Twin Screw Drive. Nice truck! Subbed for a while now enjoy your Adventure. TGP

Things to look out for are worn king pins. This series was know for this problem. Carb… any more than a 600 single pumper would just dump fuel down into the motor. The two barrel is fine for the 345. JT you can adjust the little arm on the accelerator pump to make it pump earlier. I grew up with these trucks and I LOVE them.

Hi JT. I think you should paint the grain hauler, white with red JT’s Barn and Grill on the doors. Or JT Farms on the doors. The red lettering, would definitely pop! Heck, the cab is already white, so it should paint up nice, using new white paint.👍😆😮

Between the carb rebuild and sealing the vacuum leaks, that thing should run *_way_* better. Just make sure you take care of the vacuum leaks because they cause carbs to work far less efficiently - you get lean conditions, and the atomization of the fuel is less efficient. Fixing the vacuum leaks will make sure the carb gets all the air it needs to mist the gas properly. Makes it more responsive and really reduces hesitation.

The old IH trucks we had were electric 2 speed rear axles, I have seen an old 2 speed vacuum shift on an old 1946 Chevy Dump Truck, whatever it is, you’ll figure it out. Shifting them takes a little practice and finesse. It would look pretty sharp, red or black. I would go red, you might get a discount buying a bunch of red for the 1800 and Sully. An old automotive mechanic told me yrs ago to put about 1/2 cup atf oil in the gas tank. He said it helps clean the carburetor plus keeps the gaskets from drying out . If you ever change and prepare a flat tire on those older split rims,wrap a chain around and thru the holes in the rim while trying to remove and fill them type esp with air,cause those older split rim ring can hurt you,even when you have the ring on and you are filling them with air,the groove gets rusty and sometimes the split rings won't seat home completly ,even if they seem to look so,,it a kill ya if one flies off while filling them with air ,,alot of tire places won' t service them anymore cause of libitbility insurance issues

If you're doing ignition timing. It's very sensitive to over advancing. If you hear the slightest ping in the engine back off the timing. I have a 392 and once I figured that out, it made way more power. The spec for a 392 is 0 degrees with vacuum advance disconnected. I think a 345 is 5 degree advance. But I do it by feel and how it climbs a decent grade.
