Love that you are in the chicken coop! Perfect! Please don't get more organized, what you are doing now and have been doing all along is so relaxed and comfortable that it makes it easy to watch and identify with you two. So man of the land, Tim, and trusty companion, Carthic, keep up the awesome work.🥰❤

Very true about the setbacks and space available for gardens/lawns in these new estates. Would be a huge improvement if we had greater minimum green space zones in these new builds. Should be 100m2 minimum for the front and possibly larger for back (which is still quite small when you think about it).

Tim using his boot to show off the balance on the trimmer 😉 Greg isn’t grumpy, that noise they make after laying an egg is an instinctual thing as they move away from newly laid eggs to make predators chase them instead of getting the eggs. Also, if there is no rooster, one of the hens will take up the protective mode (Greg seems like the candidate here). Chooks in their most prolific years of laying will lay one every 23 hours. They usually won’t lay when they are in molt, and need calcium supplements to keep the eggshells viable and strong. On a poultry farm, the hens may stop laying every day after four years old, however, if there isn’t competition for food and space, they can continue laying, though sporadically, until old age. Our oldest hen lived to 16 years old, and still gave us eggs three days a week when not molting…she was a super star producer! Carthic saying ‘get stuffed’ 🤣🤣🤣. As for watering a lawn, I live in Oregon and nature does that for us. The dry or hot summer months makes for brown and yellow lawns but Carthic tells truth that all it takes is one good rain and it starts greening and growing like mad again. I’d ramble about chooks for hours, so I’ll stop now😊. Great podcast, and great time seeing your ladies with their soft, downy fluff bums!

I have the power head version of the XGT trimmer. Mine has a tiny gaurd. I have the same Makita speedfeed head. 2.7mm is too hard to load and bump. I use Makita's own 2.4mm. Recently switched to a quality version of echo speed feed head. Way better than Makita's. The 1kw XGT trimmers are 30cc equivalent. Some 35cc. There is a (2x40v) 80v brush cutter. Poor runtime but good performance apparently.

No but most should reduce the size and the majority should be natural law to help save the pollinators and preserve the habit of the wildlife around us.......

I understand why people like a nice tidy lawn I really do it looks crispy and beautiful but I also enjoy the look of a well maintained natural lawn. It doesn't have to look wild and overgrown but should be friendly to the native wildlife around.

@@karmareed3598 agreed on keeping the natives and pollen producers in the garden and keeping it maintained so it’s not a jungle. Here in Oregon, USA, there are plenty of blocks that don’t have hard edges to the lawns, or they have culverts, so there is nothing to square up to, but it works with the area aesthetics and looks nice and inviting.

The WEF has decreed that urban areas must be more dense, to save the planet. They want all cities to be like Hong Kong or Tokyo. That’s why Single Family Dwellings (SFD) are being phased out, even in countries like Australia, Canada and the US where there is plenty of open space. Resist any zoning that intends to pack humans into tower blocks like anthills. As many countries have learned to their horror, packing more people into dense neighborhoods increases crime, substance abuse and disease. Mental and physical health suffer. Services are overwhelmed. Residents are in constant conflict. Meanwhile, the elite who impose these demands on the plebeians do the opposite.

My dad says that when he was a kid he snuck into the neigbours chicken coop and just as the chook laid the egg (while it’s still warm), him and his mate shaped the eggs into a square shape and then left the square eggs for the owner. I need you to try this Mythbusters style to confirm it can be done

See your accountant... Primary producers get some great tax breaks and government programs... the mics are directional enough to keep the chook noises down in the background... but they could still be stressed from only moving in a few days ago... and wondering what all this stuff in their coop is... they are not that bright, they just know it's not like it was when they woke up... and one thing to know about chickens, they always have a leader, even if their is no rooster... that's who'll attack if threatened... As for lawns or not, native plants out the front, bird & bee support, and a lawn out the back for kids / pets / husband to play with... The plastic grass just breaks down in the sun, and washes into the environment as micro plastics... I think we'll see Tim's nursery - growing natives by the rack full... the estates you speak about really need trees to be grown - at least one or two each backyard... that is what is missing from whole neighbourhoods... and bring back the home lemon tree for an everyday use... Lots of ways we could change things for the better... for numerous reasons...

I think lawns and turf are great for kids and animals to have somewhere to play and run around in, but bordering that with gardens and something more native is great. our entire fence line is covered in native plants and bushes, with parts of the house edged with garden beds and it's fantastic for the birds and insects, while having plenty of space for the dog to explore and run around in. A lot of the issues people have can be easily solved, water can be recycled, there's plenty of chemicals that are safe for kids and animals within an hour and parks and other natural areas can give homes to local wildlife (I live a few blocks away from some wetlands and forest areas and they're fantastic to walk too, so many interesting birds and ground animals living in there!).

Everything has to be built for idiots as they just want to sue for any little thing. Instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. And commonsense isn’t used anymore. Thank you both for your wonderful podcast as I’m starting a small lawn maintenance business in a very small country town.
