Watering (wetting) the turf before application is important with several products. It causes the product to stick to the leaves. Other products want you to water after application, but this is usually recommended with a feed-type only and not a "weed & feed" type product. Patience is the key and near total weed eradication may be achieved after a number of applications... yes, this could take several seasons with two, possibly three applications a year. You may be able to speed things up by doing a little hand weeding where practical (smaller lawns), but be careful not to spread seeds when doing so. Remember to water and mow regularly, not too close (low) and with a sharp blade, and a lawn like yours will recover nicely. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Hi! Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and experiences! Yes, it’s been taking some effort over the years to get this lawn renovated. Anyways, I am enjoying the overall experience and taking it as a lesson learned. Thank you for watching!!

Best time to apply is in the early morning when the dew is on the grass.

Yes, for sure. That’s what I did on my next application video. Thanks for watching!

You should do a second application after 4 to 6 weeks of the first application. Mow at the highest setting to help fill in the the bare areas until the grass is thick enough that weeds can’t compete. You won’t be able to seed until the fall when the crabgrass barrier will breakdown. The biggest mistake you can do with any lawn is cutting it too short. Keep the lawn high (between 3.5” to 4”) but still mow often. And never cut off more than a 1/4 of the height.
@asoggyburger479
@asoggyburger479 Жыл бұрын
That really depends on the type of grass you have. Bermuda for example can thrive super low. Even low cuts like 1/2” or 5/8” are fine.
@BlakWiseCracker
@BlakWiseCracker Жыл бұрын
That’s a lie! The biggest mistake is opening your mouth. All grasses are not equal when it comes to cutting heights. Also why would you put down fertilizer on tall grass or tall growing weeds. Cut it low then put down fertilizer so when the weeds attempt to grow back the fertilizer is killing and preventing new growth.

You didnt apply on a wet lawn, needs to stick to the weeds.

I do all my lawn and outside work myself and have had real good luck with Scott's Weed and Feed. The only thing I don't like about it is the price and not just on Scott's but on all the fertilizer brands. But that's an entirely different subject. Looks like your lawn not only needs the weeds eradicated but also you would need to aerate your lawn after you kill your weeds. Next you'll want to put down a good quality seed. Some areas may need a good quality yard dirt to only lightly cover some of your bare spots so the seeds have a good soil to start their growing process. Your final step is keeping all the areas you are trying to grow new grass watered. You have to keep these areas moist or growing new grass will be a very slow process. If you do these first steps correctly your new grass should germinate in 10-12 days or so. Good luck!

I would recommend using a product called Lesco three-way post-emergent. For Crabgrass I would recommend quinclorac post-emergent.

The lawn is in serious need of de-thatching! Sprouts/shoots cannot grow if the soil is covered in thick layers of dead grass/leaves. 3-4 days of meticulous raking and removal of overburden/debris. Also, some scraping/cultivating across the bald areas! It will thrive! :)

@davidorr8194

@MsTerri detaching first and hand tilling of areas that are hardened so that the turf builder will be in contact with the earth as opposed to overburden. It will then be more effective, working with the soil that is already present.

I had a bad winter this year with my lawn. Over half my backyard was damaged from those sweet sweet moles. And they caused a lot of dead spots all over. I ended up driving them off used a lawn roller to flatten everything out and once spring hit I did a soil sample from 20 different areas in my lawn. And it was badly needing npk. I ended up power raking, spike aerated and dropped about 50lbs of 10-10-10 and my lawn has bounced back in about two months. I do have some weeds throughout but to me that’s better than bear dirt showing.

Those bags are not a good fit for your type of situation. They’re meant for somewhat a thicker grass lawns. Given how thin or bare your turf is, you should use a spray killer like Gordon’s Trimec, Tenacity or T-Zone. Once weeds are dying and it’s been 4 weeks, seed with something that will grow well in your soil type and compaction. It’s looks like hard clay. A turf type tall fescue like Creeping red or RTF would be great for your lawn

You didn’t apply on a wet lawn and when you watered your lawn by hand, water didn’t spread evenly. That’s why you still have a lot of weed on your lawn.

Hi, I have a question... Don't you have to measure first how much do you need to apply depending on your lawn zise? Or you just guess it? It does not burn you lawn if you apply to much? Thanks
@hammerandrake
@hammerandrake 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you’re correct. You have to know your lawn size beforehand. There are websites and apps that you can use to measure from GPS maps. Nevertheless, if you correctly set the spreader setting, you wouldn’t run into over application because the spreader determines how much is applied per the area
@hmh4206
@hmh4206 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Edgar. The application rate is what I believe you are referring to? On each bag, they give the rate to put down, which corresponds to a setting on your spreader/dropper. So, for example, for my Scott’s broadcast spreader, the setting on the bag, thus the dropper, is 3.5. This setting does not change no matter what size lawn is receiving the application. My lawn, two years ago, looked like the one in the video. It took approximately 2 full years, with 4 treatments per year,to get a really nice lawn. The Scott’s website was very helpful in determining what to put down and when. I’m sure there are other brands than Scott’s that deliver good results. My father always used Scott’s, so that is why I use it today. I have tried some sprays to kill clover, such as the Ortho spray, and Tenacity, and also had good results when used in addition to the Scott’s plan. Additionally, I aerated last year (rented the matching from Home Depot), and overseeded in October (the day after aeration). Hope that helps! Wishing you a lawn you can be proud of!

My English is not very good, so I use translation software and hope you can understand. After using this product, do I need to buy Grass Seed to feed the lawn. In addition, can I use this product frequently in 2 months? I am working for mine Lawn troubles

Hi, I am also planning to seed but you’ll have to wait 4 months after the Triple Action application before you seed. That’s what is recommended in the label. Also, it says you can’t apply more than twice a year so I wouldn’t apply this product within 2 months
