Neighbor with lawn that had no treatments in five years put down two applications of this, plus one application of Anderson's Dimension post-emergent, all six weeks apart. Therefore that is three full applications of two products to get pretty good results, and he expects to have to do this same approach at least one more year. I think you're expecting too much out of one application of one product.

Right, it should be an all year effort

The lawn started out as a disaster. The Triple Action product was outnumbered by these tough to kill weeds. You needed two applications of Ortho Weed-B-Gone Chickweed, Oxalis and Clover Killer for those tough weeds that were already too strong. That would of helped tremendously.

Agree. To recover lawn disasters IMO the first two years each you need a total of three applications of two different weed/feed products, plus spot spraying the worst weeds with something like Image. Not to mention, an application each of insect killer and straight lawn fertilizer. That is five applications each of the first two years. Most people will not do anything close to this.

Not sure what part of the country you live in but now that we are approaching fall it may be a good time for you to rent a core plugger and plug your yard and overseed with a recommended grass seed for your area and fertilize lawn and then maybe in the spring of 2022 reapply Scott's turf builder.

Thanks! Yeah I am planning on overseeding this fall. Trying to gauge the right timing now

I've been using Triple Action for the past 3 years and I've had similar results as yours. Dandelions and wild violets are under control, but clovers are still rampant. I'm only finally finishing up the bag, and will probably switch to just Weed and Feed. I've just decided to be okay with clovers, since they are green and do a good job filling in my lawn haha

Thanks for watching!! Also thanks for that, I might actually end up same as you, just living with half and half of grass and clover🤣🤣

My attack is to use separate products geared to the intended results. Weed killer emergent to prevent germination. Weed-B-gone concentrate in a pump to attack any living weeds. And lawn food of whatever brand/type you have success with, spray on or granules. Just don't apply everything at once. You don't want to stress your lawn

The one thing I’ve learned this year. You can put all type of weed and feed on your lawn in the spring. Once it start getting hot. If you don’t water your lawn and it start going dormant. Weeds are gonna start going crazy and everywhere.

The product did the job, you need to-seed the bare spots, weeds will return. Now is the time to re-seed.

@@pkn920 yes fall is the best time to reseed. Plus a fall weed and feed( 30 days after seeding)

Ah yeah.. I am actually working on a video explaining why this Triple Action product doesn’t work.. if you’re thinking of another application, I’d recommend a product in liquid form such as Speedzone. Thanks for watching!!

Depending on the weather you should remove the weeds by hand and use dirt and seed to thicken the lawn

Great video, I just want to encourage you. Depends on where you live, planting grass seed. You have cool and warm season grass. When you have less grass in your yard the weeds will dominate your yard, when you have more grass it will dominate the weeds. But before you throw it down, ( starter fertilizer when planting new grass seed) get a soul test. This will let you know what type of nutrients you need in the yard. What you do this year will set you up for a nice lawn next year. Thanks

I hope you are still coming up with solutions for your lawn. We moved into a house a year ago with the same situation. Did you try overseeding in the fall? Are you seeding this spring? It would be good to hear an update on your progress.
@hammerandrake
@hammerandrake 2 жыл бұрын
I did overseed last fall, am preparing a video on that. I did some research on spring seeding but it seemed it will be difficult to maintain through the hot summer so gave up. Instead, I will be applying Triple action plus Tenacity this year until the fall comes again for another overseeding. Thanks for watching!!

Having similar problem. Applied started to kill weeds and create more bare spots but now the bare spots are filling in with new weeds. The only thing it really controlled was the dandelions I see a few but clover is running rampant! Great video thanks for the update. 👍

Grass like Kentucky Bluegrass will be able to spread through the roots so just feeding your lawn well will help grow more grass to a certain extent

Ya keep using tenacity as much as you can aerate and oversees aerate and over seed and just keep aerating and over seeding the dead weeds will eventually get filled in with new grass

No product is going to create a miracle lawn. It takes years and years of hard work to have a full lawn. There will always be new weeds, these products help to keep them under control somewhat but nothing can be 100% of what you want.

Agree. I'm in a warm climate with poor clay soil so my minimum is five granular applications a year -- pre-emergent, post-emergent with nitrogen (twice), insect killer, straight fertilizer like Milorganite. On occasion, also liquid humic acid for the soil. For all of these I apply the maximum rate stated on the package.
