I live in Denver and it's been dry, so I started my system again a few days ago and blew them out again afterwards.

Just north of you, and I have watered twice in Dec because it has been so dry, and I have a new lawn. Trees got a nice drip, too.

I filmed this video in Klamath Falls OR, which tends to have similar weather patterns to Denver. Dry off-seasons make keeping the root zone hydrated hard with the winter cold. I remember turning my irrigation system on a few times many winters only to drain them again the same day before things froze over night. Do it a few times and it becomes easy enough and your eventual Spring lawn will look so much better; its worth the bit of extra work IMO

That's one thing not mentioned in the video, those new lawns are even more sensitive to winter drought, you are doing the right thing!

I noticed the gold grass blades in your lawn, I have the same thing going on with my lawn and I noticed my neighbors lawns look the same, what's going on with that?

thats usually a touch of fungal disease that crops up in grass that isn't growing much if at all. Rust fungus can usually be fertilized out by adding nitrogen to actively growing grass but in the winter nothing is growing even if it's got a bit of color left from Fall. I'm not in the camp of people that applies fungicides so I just ignore it when I see it.
