Thanks for this video: You steered me onto sulfentrazone. I've used Tenacity, and it did kill a good bit of yellow nutsedge in the Buffalograss, but I have other sedges as well. Right now, the Buffalograss is dormant, but the sedges are not: Seems like the perfect time to go after them (while they are still storing up for their winter and I can see them clearly).

I used tenacity with surfacutant and got a good kill on nutsedge in a cool season lawn. It did take about 21 days to see good results. I also had other weeds that I wanted to try tenacity on, with good results also. Beginner lawn person here.

Sulfentrazone use with a surfactant caused severe discoloration of my lawn last fall. I havent used it since but i will never applying it with a surfactant again. Full disclosure I have used Empero to kill nutsedge in my lawn. You are correct in that it takes several application to complete the job.

I used a weed killer mix at the end of last summer that had a small amount of sulfentrazone in it and it did not really do much to the yellow nutsedge. I hit it again with that green spray bottle of sulfentrazone that you showed (knowing it would likely damage some of my TTTF but was near fall overseeding anyway, so I was okay with it). It did damage some of my grass, but it wiped out that nutsedge much faster than my neighbors nutsedge that he treated with sedgehammer. I just found that interesting. I have since repaired the area and will be looking to see if nutsedge returns later in the year in that area.

Devil weed. It spreads via rhizomes; nutlets; and flower seeds. Black Gumbo used a flame thrower to try to kill a patch on a raised bed. The nutsedge laughed and came back even stronger the next year. I tried using Tenacity two years ago. Burnt it down in the year I sprayed, but the infestation was even larger the next year. I'm trying Sedgehammer this year. Two apps so far. One in early July and one in early August. I hope I'm wrong, but I have high confidence it will be back next year.

I spent a whole year killing nutsedge in my yard when suddenly I had a bunch come up about two years ago, it would have been worth it *not* to use glyphosate as that left obvious dead spots in my grass(and those are finally fixed) but the nutsedge doesn't seem to have come back - as I say now, watch me go out and look tomorrow and find more, if I do I'll use one of the other products you show - but it is a hard one to get rid of, and you clearly want it gone as it grows much faster/taller than the rest of the lawn grass and stands out with the bright lighter color, so get on it asap(even if you just see one or two) or you just get more yay! nearly 50k subs! congratulations any day now

I wouldn't use glyphosate except for in ornamental garden beds where you can avoid hitting surrounding plants. I currently use Sedgehammer but if people are interested in cheaper stuff, I am pretty sure Spectracide Weed Stop available at Home Depot works on yellow nutsedge if you are persistent and tenacious about regular applications.

I only have nutsedge in a flower bed. I bought the 4 packet of sedgehammer and just ordered the surfactant you used. Gotta get rid of it before it gets in the lawn!

That's a good attitude to take. I'm going to have to start working on the nutsedge under my hibiscus bushes now that I'm starting to landscape over there. Keep your expectations in line with reality is my best advice. It'll take the whole year to get good control over the unwanted sedges. I expect to see more sedge pressure until at least 2025 even using the best products available to me.

If you have a clover lawn, plan on a 90% kill rate of the clover it's sprayed on

Warning: spraying sulfentrazone with a surfactant can cause chlorosis and definitely growth regulation, especially in high temperatures(

Will I need to add a surfactant with Sulfentrazone 4SC Select Herbicide? Answer: According to the product label of Sulfentrazone 4SC Select, "Use of adjuvants or surfactants with Sulfentrazone 4SC Select can cause short-term discoloration of some turf species. Prime Source, LLC does not advise use of Sulfentrazone 4SC Select with surfactants or adjuvants."

When I read the title, 'How to kill nutsedge: three ways compared', I thought one of the ways might be plain old-fashion weeding. But I'm a lawn newbie, maybe that idea is naive.

I hand weeded my garden bed of nutsedge, was planning a dedicated video on that topic. Takes the effort of digging out a foot of soil and sifting outlets out one by one. Doable but time consuming and not as relatedable to lawn care. Good point though!

You can hand pull nut sedge in a typical 3000 square foot yard? In Florida, we typically can have a thousand of them at a time.
