I see that it’s mostly children they are still finding alive, a Turkish Doctor hypothesised that the hypothermia (extremely low temperature) alongside the metabolism of the children may be what has kept them alive. I can’t imagine the trauma of being trapped, in pain, no sign of their parents, or worse close to the bodies of their parents/ siblings for a week! They will have significant psychological scars to deal with, long after their little bones heal. It’s heartbreaking - I am praying for all the rescue teams, they must be pulling the bodies of so many families out, nobody should have to see that. They too will be scarred long after they have finished their mission. My heart goes out to them all!

I know when we were in Joplin Missouri right after the Tornado there was a collapsed house and a voice within. We tried to flag down an ambulance but they went on by and there was a huge tree downed right in front of the house. It leaves you feeling powerless with no way to help. Smh.

The real problem is, Istanbul is predicted to have a 7.5 magnitude one pretty soon. I have to say that going after the contractors is a chicken s&$t move!! It’s pointing the finger at people who build with the officials approval!!! The answer lies with the TOP OFFICIALS!!! Then the contractors who build knowing it’s substandard!!! 😡
@mwheezee
@mwheezee Жыл бұрын
Contractors and Real Estate Investors in countries like Turkey, Syria, and Egypt where I reside, almost always violate building regulations so they can either save or make more money . the practice is wide spread in most developing countries. Last year (or maybe the year before) the Egyptian government announced that were more than 30 million buildings violations in the past like 10 years. How did the government respond you may ask !! by issuing fines, and as fines can be easily paid and get it over with, the practice is still rampant in Egypt.
@mwheezee
@mwheezee Жыл бұрын
However, even though some of the blame lies on the contractors, this is a politically driven move as Turkish presidential elections are coming up next June. so its an obvious attempt by the current ruling regime to deflect their part of the blame on someone else.

The rescue workers need every bit of pampering, luxury that they can get. Even after they have retrieved everyone from the rubble, when the rescue workers go home, they need extreme pampering for a long time. Give them perks rewards free foods, vacations to luxury resorts of their choice, the best health care, etc. Pamper, pamper, pamper.
@eden-caledoniajohn3168
@eden-caledoniajohn3168 Жыл бұрын
They will need psychological counselling most of all! I bet not one of them will care for pampering, they will just want to be with their families, to hug their children and wives/ husbands/ partners and to finally cry and release the trauma that’s been building up. After seeing what they have seen and doing the job they are doing, things like pampering as lovely as they are, will seem insignificant. I just hope they and their families are provided with the psychological support they need and deserve.

The destruction is in an area of 500 km. Turkey is one of the best in the world in search and rescue, but this was not enough for the great destruction. 3,500 rescue teams came from around the world and that wasn't enough. The city of Hatay, which is shown everywhere like the apocalypse here, and its roads and airports have just been repaired, huge crevices have formed. Aid has been going to that region for 3 days with ships. When you do not see the disaster on the spot, you can make such an easy comment. 10 great provinces and the destruction is terrible.

Nearly 3,500 teams came from the world, and they weren't enough. The aforementioned city, Hatay, has huge rifts on the roads and airports are not suitable for flight. Aid has been provided by ships for 3 days and a huge fire broke out in the port, which also prevented the passage of ships. Roads and airport have just been repaired. There are images like apocalypse and all traffic is locked.

First response rescue teams are only the very beginning of their long struggle that will most likely follow this tragic event. But agreed, humanity on a global scale shall finally come up with a better rapid response system since global climate change will trigger more and more of such events in near future. Priotise humanity over politics. Turkey is not the only country suffering Syria was hit by the same magnitude earthquake too but nobody is talking about them or helping them.

Don't worry, we are sending the aid coming to Turkey to Syria as well. Aid is arriving safely from that region whose borders are open to the United Nations and the Emirates. Ministry info. ;)

This country was a wealthy country and it has no backup or emergency services. Erdogan has no leadership skills. He has failed on all fronts. This is his country and he systemically blames others for all his errors. Look at all the buildings no one followed through with using correct materials. He needs to be removed from his position..thank God there are other countries that have come together to help the survivors. China and Spain came in flashing with a sign that they found one survivor, they were looking for brownie points. If you do volunteer work one does not get rewarded for doing good job. Helping others comes from the heart. It is sad that humanity is ignoring Syria. Syria would not be in the position it is if the west was not so greedy. I hope more survivors are found..God is routing for them and it is his will that will keep them alive. All they have to do is pray and not give up. I thank each country for participating in there efforts in helping Turkey. I truly want to know what did Modi do change Erdogons mind for a three month clean up. What is Modi getting in return from this country that is in dire straights?

The destruction is in an area of 500 km. Turkey is one of the best in the world in search and rescue, but this was not enough for the great destruction. 3,500 rescue teams came from around the world and that wasn't enough. The city of Hatay, which is shown everywhere like the apocalypse here, and its roads and airports have just been repaired, huge crevices have formed. Aid has been going to that region for 3 days with ships. When you do not see the disaster on the spot, you can make such an easy comment. 10 great provinces and the destruction is terrible. 3:44

Of course the contractors who built these thousands of substandard buildings should be arrested...but its important to point out that this government (including its president) gave these people zoning amnesties that permitted their construction... The President bragged in 2018 that his policy of "zone peace" had created and solved the housing problem.. Ultimately they are the responsible ones..and likewise need to be charged!

This earthquake is a total loss arresting people for taking anything at this point don't make any sense police service can better be served helping pull victims out don't waste jail space. Now why would any sain person even want to vote in June 2023 and not covering Syria I'm tired of clicking on news with Tukey I rather see whats happening in Syria.

Kind of distasteful of the opposition party to use this catastrophe for political gains, an earthquake of this magnitude and destruction would cripple most if not all modern countries. Would struggle to see what they could've done differently.
