It's now 108 hours since the first quake struck here at just after 4am on Monday when so many people were buried in over six thousand buildings that collapsed.
Tonight we know that nearly 23,000 people have died in Syria and Turkey and that figure rises every day.
But still people are being rescued and many are children.

As of 11 Feb. 2023, some 137 hours after the earthquake storms started, here are some facts, but before that, thank you to everyone who are helping, may you live a wonderfull life with your loved ones. We have had two big tremors one 7.7 the other 7.6 about 9 hours apart and 1891 aftershocks some as high as 6.6, scientists have commented the energy of this disaster is equalivant to roughly 500 nuclear bombs and is the largest inland quake known. The affected area of the disaster is about 250,000 square kilometres, just to give a perspective the surface areas of whole of Greece is about 128,000 and Bulgaria is about 108,000 sqkm. 166,334 Turkish relief workers in the area, and as far as I know some 36,000 are search and rescue volunteers trained by AFAD the official Turkish SAR organization. Some 8326 people from 76 countries are assisting in the SAR efforts, as far as I know the most was sent by Azerbaijan with 747 rescuers 57 of them doctors. Even 1 rescuer is important because as time is passing, saving each life is paramount. Majority of the collapsed buildings are of the older inventory built according to older regulations in effect prior to the current governent got elected which they improved, most of the buildings built according to the newer regulations are unaffected or standing, allowing the inhabitants to evacuate safely. Some people wrongly compare this earthquake to the one in Japan with the 9 magnitude, which was 373 kilometers away from Tokyo and 30 kilometers beneath the ocean. The earthquakes in Turkiye that occured 9 hours apart, the first 7.7 the second 7.6 with about 1891 aftershocks as high as 6.6, had an epicenter about 10 km from the many cities inflicted and was as shallow as 7 km from the surface. As of now, which is about the 137th hour after the disaster; -22,327 accounted deaths so far -80,278 saved and injured (many of them saved from under the rubbles, even now days after -7584 buildings collapsed, 12,617 suffered heavy damage needing to be demolished, so far 35 percent of the building inventory has been damage assessed, assesments are ongoing -1 million+ people given temporary accommodation -190,000 people evacuated from the region -12026+ work machinary (thousand more pouring in), 167 aircraft, planes and helicopters,, 45 drones, 24 vessels are working in the region, there has been 1867 relief flights in the region, carrying volunteers and supplies -close to 2000 trucks carrying aid and relief equipment like clothes, blankets, food, sanitary, toys for children, heating equipment, has been sent to the region from all over Turkiye from civilian aid collections -77 field hospitals is set up in the area of 10 cities that have been affected with mobile pharmacies operating in the region -170,000+ family tent and containers have been set up as immediate temporar shelter -Turkish government is providing financial assistance to each family and is providing free evacuation and transportation to accomadation in hundreds of thousands of hotel rooms, student dorms, goverment buildings, with food and all amenities, needs etc a -25000 Turkish armed forces personnel in the region, all military buildings in the region have been allocated for civilian use -children of all ages who have lost their parents are been cared in hospitals before been either given to their legal guardians of their family (aunts, uncles, grandparents etc) or cared for in government orphanages -aid and volunteers are pouring in from all other Turkish cities -Turks from across the country have donated blood, the authorities have asked the population to do so in spreading their donations in time as there was too much influx of support -roads leading to the region that was closed due to harsh winter ice and snow have all been opened -Turkish airlines provide free flights to and from the region for evacuation of millions -the government has pledged to cover renting expenses of each family for one year, in any other Turkish city they decide to relocate -the Turkish governemnt also pledged and gave the words to rebuild all the houses of every victim of the disaster, planned to be completed in one year -from the first day of the disaster all mobile phones which may have been closed by the operators due to nonpayment or delay in payment was opened by government directive so everyone could communicate -no amenities were closed due to debt or those that were closed due to debt was opened, -all tax payments in the region was frozen, the government provided ease for millions of affected people Hoping no one lives through anything like this. Thank you to the world for been considerate, decent people need to make this world world. May you all live a wonderfull life with your loved ones. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The anger of the Turks is increasing day by day. Allegedly, about US$3,000,000,000 has been paid into Turkey's compulsory earthquake insurance since 1999. But now there is a lack of heavy rescue equipment, emergency shelter and food as emergency first aid everywhere... I especially feel sorry for the earthquake victims. - They have been doubly deceived. First with the tofu buildings, and then with the nasty surprise of how little of the insurance money was invested in a reasonable stockpile of first aid and immediate disaster relief. Worst of all: Government temporarily suspended Twitter because of emerging complaints.

This is pure fanaticism. I, as a Christian, I would keep my faith and my gratitude to God in my heart and I would keep thanking the rescuers, specially, those of of other faith and even the unbelievers, those coming from abroad, for coming to my help. Don't judge people by their faith but by their deeds. Those who have only 'God ' in their mouth, may be the very ones who may blow you up in a matter of seconds. Don't forget what jesus told us, ' it is not those who keep saying " lord, lord" who will enter the kingdom of God but those who believe in jesus and do the will of God.

I believe there still might be trapped people like children waiting to be rescued are also dying away. Do whatever we can to help them and not stop to help them! Continue helping them praying, donating money and supplies! "During the 1989 earthquake in California, a father had only one thought: "My son is waiting for me." He dug for 8 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours, and no one came to stop him . His face was covered with dust, his eyes were bloodshot, his body was tattered, and blood was everywhere. At the 38th hour, he suddenly heard a child's voice from the ground: "Dad, is that you?" Dad shouted : "Amand, my boy!". This story shows that although miracles make us very lucky, the ability of faith will produce great power. People want to succeed in doing things, they must believe that they can succeed; Have the belief that "I will definitely be able to change my habits", and learn to use the power of the mind to completely change myself. This is cultivating the mind." - Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Master Lu

@Rio why is it Gods fault when humans construct flimsy apartments, plus we can’t live forever there has to be birth and death and some people die early some from old age, we all die of different causes, imagine everyone dying of same thing or at same age. In these are signs for people who reflect and believe . We glorify God in Good times to show gratitude and when calamity strikes to heal and overcome grief and have hope and say we belong to God and to him we return. Look how strong these people are even in such calamity they are glorifying God, that is faith which some people will not taste since they deny God.

I am sorry for my recklessnes, i was biased by my own anger. I do respect people that believe in higher power, but I do not respect the idea. Though of God is too local, too human-ish. People like you view the world as a nice place, where justice takes place. But it's simply not what is happening. Most of people there probably didn't do anything bad in their life, yet they died by horrible death by suffocation under ruins that were caused byy natural factor. The fact is, some people were lucky, some were less lucky.

@@qaterius1433 You are also human-ish in that you assume a lot. God works in mysterious ways. You don’t know how those dying felt.. God can comfort and help in ways unknown.. unseen.. God is beyond comprehension.. we must have faith and understand that our knowledge is limited and God’s wisdom is infinite. He knows and we know not.
