Turkey election: President Erdogan faces runoff vote

Turkey's President Erdogan is headed for his - and his country's - first presidential runoff vote.
After a tumultuous night which saw rival camps accusing each other of rushing to declare results - neither side got more than the 50 per cent required for overall victory.
Despite polls indicating opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu was narrowly ahead, Mr Erdogan proved he was still a formidable political force - and took the highest proportion of the vote.

I'm sorry I really am but if Erdoğan really does retain the title of being Turkey's President AGAIN after so long and with all the things that have happened then I can have no more sympathy for the Turkish people, including the ones leaving on the street. And this is because they would thrown away one of the best possibly things I could respect them for by ridding themselves of a tyrant who hasn't taken care of them for years and of which they are now bearing the brunt of as a result of the earthquake. They would of also thrown away a perfectly suitable candidate who could, and I hope STILL will, real change for the people which they need now more than ever. What the guy said was right if Erdoğan is to remain as Turkey leader he may as continue on forever because their should be no real cause for the people to chose him again, and they'll be snubbing a very acceptable candidate to lead them to a bright future. So if they really do chose to continue to have Erdoğan after all they have suffered it will be completely unacceptable and Erdoğan will be invincible because no other opponent will be able to defeat him in future if wins this election, as the people still voted for him over freedom and stability.

I voted Kılıçdaroğlu yesterday. I ll vote Kılıçdaroğlu again in run-off. Unfortunately,Erdoğan will win with 52-53%. As a secular patriot, I fell veryyy depressed...It is a fact that nearly hallf of the citizens dont want to vote Erdoğan. I hope Erdoğan will return his old times and he will try to end-up this extreme polarization in Turkey.Last but not least, western media said that Kılıçdaroğlu is a powerful candidate but he is not.
