Brazil battles nature as ‘largest ever’ floods submerge whole cities

At least 83 people are dead after days of heavy rain in southern Brazil and more than a hundred are missing.

Another 122 thousand people have been displaced by floods, which have destroyed roads and bridges in several cities, triggered landslides and caused a dam to partially collapse.

Far from normal... an extreme mass of hot air in the Southeast (São Paulo, Paraná, ... we are on red alert but for heat) is blocking the passage of cold fronts from the South (Rio Grande do Sul) to the Equator, which become trapped and rain in the same place, generating reported chaos. South America, south africa and Oceania have never seen this type of flooding like what they experiencing. More than 350 cities have been affected, some cities are more than 90% underwater. I live in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, thankfully I live in a area that is very high and has not been directly affected, but some problems like food and water not being properly supplied are still here. Rio Grande do Sul is the size of Portugal, and half of it is being affected, it is even worse than what you poeple know, you have to be here to understand. With cities underwater, there are literally pirates emerging and robbing homes and robbing people who are on boats.

I live in southern Brazil, Curitiba city, and it is the hottest spring, summer and fall that I've ever seen. 30ºC during fall is not common at all. This morning I was watching the news and they were talking about a list of more than 100 kids missing that somehow got separated from their parents during rescue. I believe at this point we don't know how many people are missing or dead, but hundreds of thousands have been affected somehow. People lost their companies, houses, jobs, everything. They don't have water, electricity, clothes or food, and they don't know how long this situation will last. It is likely that tomorrow will start raining again. Infelizmente essa catástrofe só ganhou projeção nacional quando chegou em Porto Alegre mas no dia 5 o RS já estava de joelhos !! Pra você ter uma idéia em algumas cidades o acumulado de três horas correspondeu a 3 meses de chuva, mas oque causou a tragédia foi que choveu muito e por muito tempo !!!! I am from Brazil. It was critical, but it's not new here. Every year, many regions in my country are affected by heavy rain. It's known. And that won't change. Brazilian geography allows this to happen. The real problem in Brazil is poor public management associated with corruption. 😢

435 ou of 497 citys have been flooded . There are flat earth believers talking about infrastructure that was not build to prevent this disaster and blah, blah, blah. Let me tell you that this kind of people are just the flat earth dummies spreading their nonsense ! There is no infrastructure that could be planned for the amount of rain that did fall in the rivers delta and in the valleys. My city alone is in the Rio Caí delta and in only five days, it rained 400mm per square meter !!! That accumulated from the previous entire month 483mm !! The problem is that all the other five main rivers deltas and valleys received stupid amounts of water also and that all happened in a period of 5 days !!

This won't change until the whole world can learn how to cooperate with each other for a better healthier planet. I just can't see that happening any time soon. When they take serious actions towards it it will probably already be too late. Although at this rate nuclear weapons and its aftermath will likely happen before that. Hope I'm dead by then :). As I don't have any family I don't have to worry about either.

This is terrible.... flooding across the globe must surely wake people up to our collective destruction of Nature. When will we learn to work with Nature than think we can master it for short term gain? I sincerely hope these people receive as much help as they need, to recover something of their lives. What's happening to our precious, fragile planet affects us all, and we're all responsible for these endless catastrophes... sending Brazil prayers, as I don't know what else to do..🙏
