Good video. Every book I have considers turkey tail inedible, but mainly because of how tough they are. I know you can use it in other ways; never knew you could prepare it like this.

I missed the premiere, but watched later. Thanks for the information. I knew that turkey tail was medicinal and I have seen them growing in my garden, but I didn't know when to harvest them or how to use them. Can hardly wait! I love mushrooms, but can't go foraging for them (I have a knowledgeable friend that will). Now I can grow my own!

Thank you for watching Harriette! Good luck with growing them!

First time watching. Great presentation. I will get mine going ASAP! My wife and I consume about 1gram of Turkey Tail extract daily. I live in a small town in Western Oregon. I’m converting the small area around our duplex following the permaculture philosophy. I had an organic garden before retiring to Oregon. I’m guessing I got about 600 square feet to work with and experiment with. Glad to have found your videos.

Thank you for sharing on Turkey tail mushrooms, have old fallen branches on property, and saw some mushrooms, i can now check if they could be Turkey tail. Thank you for all the info, also love how your ginger cat interacts. Agreed it is good to build community of people when we share the same passion with nature🙏Merci

When tasting, dip only one side of spoon into hot food, taste from the other side of the spoon, so that you don't burn your lips! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

Great video! I need to start being brave enough to mushroom forage. Soon. So, even older turkey tail are good to harvest? I have tons of logs in my food forrest so should have mushrooms soon. 😊
@WillowsGreenPermaculture20 күн бұрын
At the moment I don’t recommend old turkey tail to harvest to eat. Only the fresh stuff that is white underneath as you saw in the cooking section. I have more research to do. For years, I also didn’t forage for mushrooms. Since starting this new life, I have come out of my comfort zone to research and experiment, but always having that 100% certainty that I know what I have.

HAVE SOME WITCH HAZEL SEEDS AND THE PROCESS IS REALLY LONG BETWEEN HEAT AND THEN COLD STRATIFICATION PER INSTRUCTIONS. WHAT IS YOUR IDEAS ON PLANTING THESE SEEDS? THANK YOU SO MUCH AND LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! YOUR WIFE IS BEAUTIFUL ALSO! :) LIKE THE VIDEOS THAT YA'LL DO TOGETHER! SO CALMING.

Thank you Debbie! I love doing the videos with Magali too! I can give you the best advice for your witch hazel seeds if you tell me what region you live in. For example, if you live in the Carolinian Zone (which I am just north of), you need only to direct sow them in the ground now, and let nature do all that heat and cold stratification for you during the winter and spring. Mark the spot well, because they could take a long time to germinate. I will do more research on witch hazel seeds. I am curious. I haven’t harvested any yet from out two witch hazels. Please remind me to update you.

QUESTION Is this mushroom grown "commercially," or is it a specialty kind of food? Like figs only in stores dried because can only be picked ripe? A mushroom grower in a CA farmers mkt sold mixed mushrooms in bowls. He poured them into a bag, they all grew on the same base. Oh, they were good. But! He drove from San Diego, probably a 5 hour drive....

I've never seen it sold commercially. Welcome to the premiere, mojavebohemian!

I have an Indian rubber tree that has to come down and won't render enough wood from sawmilling. Where can I find i formation on what I could inoculate the wood with to get edible mushrooms? I'm in 11b zone.

Answering a comment in the chat, because the chat closed: Any type of blender you may have in California that is good for blending spices and flour. If you have an Indian or Pakistani community in your area, and they have grocery stores, Sumeet they'd have

Can you still eat when they are older when they are cream colour?

I have to look that one up and get back to you. So far, I've only used fresh ones, because I have so many.
