New York here. My wife and I just put phr 1yr old to sleep and watched this. She almost ran to the kitchen to make this. Needless to say, we have no regrets! Instead of vanilla since we didnt have any, we used cinnamon. It was great! The idea of these 'Dutch babies' is awesome! I wonder how it would taste if you topped with sausage gravy and treated it as if it was sausage gravy and 'biscuits'! Thanks for the easy snack/breakfast!

I didn’t know about the Dutch and German heritage. I figured you were 100% cowboy 🤠Pannenkoeken are definnately Dutch but the recipe is slightly different. Way less eggs and baked as a thin(-ish) pancake. Pancake is the literal translation for Pannenkoek, as you are undoubtedly aware of, and so we come full circle. Yours looks delicious and truly American where everything is bigger 😉 Thanks for sharing your live with us, it’s much appreciated.

I love those drone shots!!!! For folks not from the Dakotas it will give them a overall shot of the ranch…Beautiful…. I remember taking my son when he was a baby to do barn chores….They are all bundled up and after being out in the cold and then coming into the warm and getting something to eat…they usually sleep…. Love the Dutch pancake…. I always sprinkle confectioner sugar on my waffles and or French toast..I always use lots of syrup and butter…..,so good…. And to little Silas…you are such a sweet and precious little guy….You all have a great day!!!❤. See you in the next video…And oh yeah..to those crazy turkeys…,you know Thanksgiving is over or you would be dinner!!😊

Demaris might need her own show on the Food Network. The Sleep Ranch Cooking Hour! Brought back memories of my grandmother making this on Sunday morning on the farm in Iowa. I don't know why, but we always put Karo syrup on it, but the powdered sugar looks good! We're not Dutch, 100% German, but it seemed to be in the recipe mix. I think those drone shots are fantastic, and really enjoy seeing them. God Bless your son, great to see him out with you since the weather is mild enough right now.

Hi from Sweden. We have something similar that we call ”oven-/thick pancake”. I was brought up on a small dairy family farm. Mom used to make it for supper 😍 The proportions a bit different, 1cup flour, 2cups milk and about 3-4 eggs. Mom taught me to blend flour and milk first and at last put in the eggs…no lumps. 😇 Thanks for showing me your farmlife! Brings back great memories, I spend 2,5 years in the States when young, not on a farm but some of the time in farmcountry. ❤️

I love watching your videos, glad I found your channel. I took German in high school and in the summers I came out to Nw Iowa to walk beans for my uncle's who raised about a dozen beef cows for freezer camp and the rest was a farrow to finish operation with 700 sows raising pigs on straw which was alot of manual labor, no skidloader just a loader bucket on a 4020 and we hauled our feed from town with a M farmall and a 6 ton grainavator with 2 -3ton compartments.I met my girlfriend at the time when I came out to Iowa to work for my uncle's and we hired her to help walk beans at the time and every summer she worked for my uncle's to walk beans and I did that from 74-78 and 78 I moved back to Nw Iowa to farm and raise pigs and a few beef cows and I ended up getting married in 80 to the girl I walked beans with and I m still married and have a son who went to Augustana in Sux Falls and got his accountant degree and a buddy of his they decided to start there own accountant business in Sux Falls in Nov of 2019 and within 2 years they had over 800 clients so they had to quit taking clients until they can find 3-4 more accountants so they can continue to grow. But when my son was young we gave him the little JD TRACTORS starting at age 2 and he is 33 and still gets a couple pieces of JD EQUIPMENT at Christmas 🎄. And we had a daughter and they both loved the farm and they both started driving tractor and pickup around 7 and 8 but my son got his CDL like me and he and my daughter would haul loads of pigs and my son would drive and my daughter would unload the semi trailer and they both would load the trailer. But I was always told by teachers and people that I had the best kids as they were smart and always worked hard after school like power washing and bottle feeding calves like 25 at the most and feed my calves I had at the most 100 when I was full and they would do hog chores if I was busy in the fields. I can't wait to see your son riding horse and helping you round up the cows. My wife is Dutch and when she was in 9th grade she went to Holland with her Gma but as soon as they got on the plane her Gma quit talking English and everything was Dutch and when she got to Holland her cousins would translate everything for her cuz she didn't know any Dutch. I have a cousin who is married and has a daughter and married and they live near Holland and she always has lots of tulips in the backyard of there house. I can't believe that you have hardly any snow compared to Sux Falls as they had like 16 inches last week and we have been getting alot of dense fog this winter and my GPA always said 90 days after fog you get precipitation so April could be a exciting month, hopefully it's rain. Can you put the plastic snow fence on your hay so that the turkeys can't get at the hay. When do you start calving. Have you ever heard of the channel Our Wyoming life there a cattle and rancher channel by Gillette Wyoming and they take there beef to Sturgis SD to get processed and they ship it out all over the country.

We call your breakfast German pancake, but we normally eat it for supper. The Dutch people around us make what they call a Dutch pancake and it is pretty much a crape. Anyhow whatever it is supposed to be called it doesn't matter because it is so good. My mother said that she grew up with it because they were poor with a big family but they had lots of eggs.
