Nice to see F4s flying again. I used to see them all the time flying out of MCAS El Toro in the 1980s, which was only 6 or 7 miles from my house. The F4 is a beast! The Turkish AF put on a great flight demo. I can't believe the good access they gave the photographers. Excellent video!

"Nice to see F4s flying again" Türkiye is one of the best in the world in terms of fighter jet maintenance and operation. F4s have never been withdrawn from flight. When F35s arrived, the aircraft were planned to be removed from the inventory, but when Turkey reacted to the hostile attitude of the US, they were removed Türkiye from the F35 program by US and F4s are still kept in the inventory for bomber duty. There are currently around 30 F4s active. KAAN will enter the inventory by 2030 and F4s will probably be removed from the inventory at that time.

@@whQQps The KAAN looks like it's going to be a very successful aircraft. I'll be interested in reading more about it when it goes operational. To be honest, I didn't realize Turkey's aerospace industry was able to produce such a sophisticated aircraft. That's not an insult, it's just a matter of my ignorance on the subject.

Türkiye'deki F-4'ler Türkiye ilk olarak “Peace Diamond I”(Barış Pırlantası I) projesi ile 40 adet F-4E sipariş etmiş ve uçaklar 1974 yılında Türk Hava Kuvvetleri'ne teslim edilmeye başlanmıştır. 1977 yılında ikinci proje olan “Peace Diamond II” dahilinde 32 adet daha F-4E filoya eklenmiştir.
