The quality of Turkish carpets is known throughout the world. We were fortunate to have a behind-the-scenes tour of a Turkish carpet factory (Gallery Cappadocia) and saw the silkworm cocoons that begin the process, the hand weaving and stitching, and the final product. Of course, I bought a small carpet while I was there-they even give you a Certificate of Authenticity.

My dad worked in Turkey in the 70’s and my parents were fascinated with the village rugs. The merchant had his multiple wives making them.

The biggest tip I can tell you is to negotiate the price. I don't know rugs too well but like anything else, once you start to walk away they will be more agreeable.

Any argument is good to sell a rug for this guy, even walking on a prayer rug with his shoes on telling his potential customers they could put in a bedroom or the living under a table.
