TURKISH GUY REACTS TO GREECE'S EUROVISION 2024 ARTIST - MARINA SATTI

Happy, happy Eurovision season!
As we are almost getting into another VERY BUSY Eurovision season, we have now heard about Greece's next Eurovision superstar, who is the iconic Marina Satti! The question is - will she redeem Greece after last year's semi finals disqualification and bring justice once and for all? (dramatic enough? :P)

She sings "tha s' afisso pali" which means "I will leave you again". She puts a lot of cultural and traditional elements in her songs and videos, and Christian Orthodoxy has a tremendous cultural and historical impact in Greece, apart from the strictly religious / spiritual one. And the region must be Macedonia, the northermost part of Greece :)

You could react to her song “mantissa”. I think that was her first song that came out and she went viral with it. To this day the video has 55 million views. She composed and sang the song. Marina graduated from Berklee College of music, she knows what she’s doing and she can sing live perfectly (it’s like listening to a recording). She acts too.

@@ykm4818 Nikos Vertis ist ein berühmter Sänger. Seit 2003 ist er aktiv. Marina war eine unbekannte Künstlerin, die ein Lied auf KZbin hochgeladen hat und es sofort viral war. 55 Millionen sind viele Views für eine unbekannte Sängerin, die alles alleine ohne ein Label gemacht hat.

So surreal to see a Eurovision KZbinr (and one of the coolest ones) to react to Marina, still can't believe that she is gonna represent us on ESC, i've been wanting this since forever. She is one of the most special and versatile artists in Greece, you should definitely check out more from her debut album ''Yenna'', songs like Ponos Krifos, Spirto Ke Venzini, Kritiko definitely deserve anyone's attention. And of course ''Mantissa'', her big viral hit back in 2017 with a must-watch music video (it was shot in one take inside Athens' centre). You should expect the highly requested return of the Greek lyrics, i even doubt that she will include any English in her track. You should also expect creative visuals and heavy traditional Greek sound, packed with storytelling and some top tier production. It was about time to send a full, musical package to ESC, after a long period of western approaches with, most of the times, unknown artists to the Greek public. So hyped up!

Mantissa is my favourite song of Marina. Marina was raised in Crete but born in Athens so she has influences from Crete and Greek tradition. Religion is an artists personal thing so she picks to show this side of her in the video but it doesnt mean youll see it in eurovision. Marina is an amazing Greek artist. Everyone, literally EVERYONE IN GREECE IS SO HAPPY WITH MARINA REPRESENTING OUR COUNTRY.

While I hope not to cause any controversy, I personally believe that she is more talented than Ariana Grande. (Maybe not enough white but still haha) Her Balkan heritage and unique background make her stand out. It's not a competition, but as a musician, I can see that she has received a solid musical education and possesses a wide range of talents beyond just singing..and acting!

Many Greeks are disappointed and sad with the decision of the Greek broadcaster to send her to Eurovision. The comments section of the Greek newspaper Proto Thema is full of negative comments. Most Greeks believe that her voice and songs are low quality. I hope she won't read them. Also, Luben TV, a very popular Greek KZbin channel, published a video making fun of the quality of her music.

As a person I am not interested in the Eurovision song contest but as a Greek I do not find anything positive about her. Her voice is tonally correct but not at all interesting and certainly not as captivating as many believe. Her music appeals to a low level audience (Greeks and others). Her music is awful and her appearance/performance on videos etc is horrible (if not horrifying). We Greeks, trying to overcome our aesthetic decline, we try to create idols out of nowhere. This year's choice of the National Radio and Television Commission of Greece was not only bad but also unfair. The opportunity was not given to other artists to present their songs and compete for who will represent Greece in the competition.
