You speak like an American. I am confused because you have a Turkish name but speak like a native in English. This level of language ability is amazing when you are able to confuse someone from the UK. I love your lessons, they are incredible!

Well done Yasin.! For English speakers it's quite difficult to grasp the structure of Turkish sentences. You explained it very well . Once you do " get it " though it all becomes much easier ! Stick with it . And when you get the chance to visit the amazing country that is Turkey you will enjoy the experience so much more. Learning even a little of the language shows that you respect Turkish culture .....and is good manners too !!

Çok güzel bir video! Harikasın! I have a question about the sentence, "Ben İngilizce ve Türkçe konuşurum." Why is it "konuşurum" and not "konuşuyorum?"
@YSN596
@YSN596 7 жыл бұрын
Usually we mean Present Simple tense when we say I speak English and Turkish as in English Language. So the last two words -"ur-ir" in Turkish refers Present Smiple Tense in Turkish. Briefly! I speak / I do ... refers all the time Present Simple in English which has the same function in Turkish language with sufixes of Present Simple, therefore, We usually prefer Konuşurun in this case. Hoep it is clear for you.
@YSN596
@YSN596 7 жыл бұрын
And "konuşuYORum" refers most of the time actions for present progressive forms in Turkish which means actions are taking place at the time of speaking... with the help of " -YOR" suffix.

Yasin bey, I have a question for you: in English I could say I work today (present tense) or I'm working today (present contineous tense). Are there two different ways in turkish to indicate the difference or is the suffix (yor) used in both cases? I want to add that your lessons are excellent. This one in particular is pure essence! Teşekkür ederim!

Yes in turkish they use present progressive tense suffixes for present simple tense which actually they mean present simple tense Example Where are you living ? I’m living in Adana. Nerede yaşıyorsun? Adana’da yaşıyorum. As you say suffix of - yor is used in the examples which actually are supposed to refer to present simple tense ... Don’t worry about using either of them but technically you should use present simple tense in exams if the question asks you to do so... in spoken example it’s okay because it sounds more informal and natural to use this way... hope this explanation helps ;)!
